Hi ladies,
so I'm starting at a new school this year, and I just got an email saying that there is a conference August 24th and 25th that is recommended but not required. Now normally I'd be like cool I'm there, but I have a vacation planned August 19-26th 3 hours away. Should I suck it up and come back early? ( Ok I know this is what I should do, but really I just need someone who's not my husband to tell me that)

BFP 5/2/11, missed m/c, D&C 6/13/11

Well that was a crazy couple of years.
All of this.
I second this. My vacations are a big deal for me and it takes a lot of convincing to get me to change/cancel my plans once I've made them. I'm just stubborn that way. If it's not required I wouldn't go. If it was important they would have made it mandatory attendence.

The reason it's not mandatory is because contractually they cannot make it that way, our year doesn't begin until the 30th.
Also there was no way I would have known about this conference had I not been friends with people who already work at this school.
The only reason I want to go is to make a good impression on the new principal of the school.
I'll make it a game time decision.
