School starting

Does it seem that school is starting earlier and earlier? The kids in my district are already back in school (I think Monday was their first day). I guess I don't remember them going this early last year but maybe they did.

I don't remember when they get out for school though but it seems so early to be going back. When I was going to school it was at least the end of August or after Labor day before we went back.

Confession: We were out Sunday at Office Max and they had all the school supplies out and I miss shopping for school supplies as I love school supplies. I was tempted to buy a few things but I have no use for supplies right now. I can't wait until Peyton is in school to go shopping for supplies :) Yes I am a dork.

Re: School starting

  • YES! My bff is a teacher and they went back last Thursday. I know the city schools here started back Monday and the private school starts back Thursday. It seems like every year is gets sooner and sooner. I always HATED going shopping for school supplies cause it meant my summer was over. But now I know most parents are glad that school is starting back!

  • Wow. Schools here start back on Thursday, and teachers start tomorrow. Today will be my last summer lunch with my mommy for the year. :-(

  • First of all, Emily, I'm impressed that you're 67 weeks pregnant! Stick out tongue

We were the first district to go back in this area.  Kids started yesterday.  Everyone else starts some time next week.  We start so early b/c we get a fall break in early October.  Yesterday the kids were really hyper, but today they were all exhausted.  We have a new 250,000 square foot building this year too, so everyone (staff and kids) is still pretty lost.

  • I love buying supplies too, Heather. You're not a dork! Schools here don't start until the last week of August. In England we started the 1st of September but we got a week off in Oct, 2 for Xmas, a week in Feb, 2 for Easter, a week in May and then we ended in July.I like that schedule much better as it's not such a long summer!
