Dog Boarding Recs
Hi Ladies,
I am new to Austin and looking for a place to board my dog. He is a 4 year old westie and has never been to a kennel. We are looking for a place, preferably North Austin area, that will take great care of our "baby."

rising star pet ranch. i just made a reservation here today for our dog. he's stayed there once and seemed to do really well. he doesn't like strangers, but the staff made friends with him.
it's located on a large piece of land, and the owners live on property and are retired breeders (of dogs!) and used to show dogs professionally. the kennels are nice and big and very clean as are the runs. it's out in liberty hill, but it's a straight shot up 183.

eta: it's also the most affordable place i've found in the area.
eta2: they also don't charge to administer medication, in case that's a concern. i used to have a diabetic dog, and some places charged $10 a day to give her an insulin shot.

No recs here (I'm south) but I have a Westie too....he just turned 7 and is my baby! GL finding a place to keep your little guy! This is my Mason.
I have a great dog boarding rec in SW Austin/Oak Hill area...Bobbi Colorado's Canine Camp. They have indoor temperature controlled large kennels, as well as outdoor play yards. In the cooler months, the dogs spend much of their time playing outside. In the hot summer months, they rotate the dogs in and out a lot, and provide baby pools for them to cool off, that way nobody gets overheated. The staff is really great and they have an awesome trainer (Carol) to boot. We originally found them because of training, but our dog loves going there now. She even has best girl-dog and boy-dog friends that she loves to hang out with. Our dog gets excited when we pull up to the parking lot and can barely contain herself to get out (one time she jumped out before I could get her leashed up). She is always excited to see the staff and her trainer Carol, running right up and greeting them. Sometimes she does not even want to come home when I try to pick her up. She runs up to greet me, then tries to run back into the play yard. We often go for training sessions, then she stays for daycare. We have started leaving her overnight to get used to it and she always has a great time. Just last weekend we left her while we were working on a backyard project. She got to have a sleepover with her best friend who was also getting boarded for the weekend, and we didn't have to worry about her slipping through an open gate.
