Lauren Bush-Lauren, say what?

Thank you People.com for this tidbit:

Lauren Bush, the niece of former president George W. Bush, and David Lauren, son of iconic designer Ralph Lauren, celebrated their engagement Saturday in the Hamptons.

"I think it will be Lauren Bush-Lauren," the bride-to-be explained in April. "That's not final, but I think it's nice to have the same name as your husband. I am sort of old-fashioned in that way."

Okay....maybe it's just me, but I would stick with "Lauren Bush"....

Re: Lauren Bush-Lauren, say what?

  • haha, when they got engaged M was pulling for Lauren Lauren! She should get him to take her name.
  • They should combine their names and be LaBush!

  • I feel like there is someone in the Lauren family named Lauren Lauren.  (Lah-ren Lor-EN).  Maybe I'm making that up, or there is someone else famous with a name similar to that.

It looks funny on paper, but it's pronounced differently, and the Bush will be in between to help.

  • I say she should just go big with Lauren Lauren.

  • I think Lauren Lauren (said the two different ways) sounds like a hipster sitcom of some sort.

Whatever she decides to do, both families are rich enough that she could change her name to Bozo the Clown and nobody would dare say anything.

  • Awkward... I used to worry that I'd fall in love with someone with the last name Ball or Glass or something like that... in fact there was a boy named David Ball in high school, super cute too... people used to joke about us. :) I guess you can't pick the name of the person you fall in love with. Smile
  • Back when Trading Spaces was still on I remember on a behind the scenes show where Paige Davis admitted that she was almost Paige Paige when she married her husband but (obviously) he understood and she didn't change her last name.

I understand wanting to have the same name as her husband, but technically she already does... so she could still get away with it without actually having a name change lol
