I need to clean our carpets..probably should have done it awhile ago. I'm going to rent a carpet cleaner but have no idea what I should look for. We have two dogs and there have been a few accidents, there isn't any staining from them but I feel like our house just smells like dog. Any recommendations on specific brands or cleaner?
Re: rental carpet cleaner
I rented a rug doctor from the local grocery store, and wish we had just spent the money to have Stanley Steamer come out. We have berber, and it took such a long time. DH had to make several passes. And then we didnt realize it had a leak so it leaked on the 'clean' carpet overnight and DH had to run it 2 more times in the morning before we returned it. And it still left a big rusty stain.
I would only get the rental again if it was for a spot cleaning. maybe. As it stands we'll have to call Stanly to come out before Thanksgiving anyway.
The rented ones gross me out. I bought one for a about $150.00 (hoover) for the in between cleanings but I have a carpet cleaner come out to do the carpets once a year.
(I live in the top 10 cities for bed bugs..I worry daily about getting bed bugs..so the rented ones scream bed bug and fleas to me..I am a little crazy that way)
