Sarah B & Paige - Outlander (sp through book 3)

I started Voyager on Saturday and it took me 200 pages to get in to it. I stuck it out because I'm hooked on the series (and it's over 950 pages!). I'm a couple chapters past when Claire returns to Jamie I think I just don't like reading about Jamie and Claire apart. I especially didn't like reading about Jamie with other women. Oh, and I'm not too happy about him having a son with that girl, even though I know it made him so happy. Argh! I want Brianna and Roger to go through the stones and surprise them.

That is all. I just need someone to talk about it with. I'm really loving that my library has the entire series available for my e-reader. I'm trying to pace myself since the next (last?) book isn't going to be out until next year, but I devour each book once I start it. Smile

Re: Sarah B & Paige - Outlander (sp through book 3)

  • I do find that they are all kind of slow to get into. I think I picked up (and put down) Snow (book 6) about 5 times before I finally pushed through and read it.

Book 4 was my least favorite (Drums of Autumn, I think). It's been a long time since I've read those ones. I am partway through Dragonfly in my quest to re-read before book 8 comes out. I have a feeling that book 8 might be the last one, and I will be SO sad to say goodbye to these characters.

  • Have you read any of the Lord John series? I've heard little things about it on the book board, but I'm not sure how much of a spin off it is.

  • I have yet to read Echo even though I own it. I started it but I was pregnant at the time and I tend to read in bed. A book that big it was hard to get comfy with at 6 months. I have been doing quick reads right now but do love all of them but they do take a bit to get a good I can't put it down feeling going for me.

Sorry I spaced off day dreaming about his sexiness for a moment. Wink

I was actually talking about this series again yesterday. I went to the zoo with a friend and her mom and her mom just read it based on my recomendation and she loved it too.

I haven't read the LJG series yet but I really want to. I want to say it can be read anytime after book 4? But maybe it was 3. Since I read them all in order without breaks all 8 books kinda blend together. I just listened to #1 and I forgot that it ended like it did. I thought the book went farther into her pregnancy not that she just "knew" she was pregnant like the moment it happened.

I think that overall book 9 had a lot of slow parts but it was still reallllllly good. I just started looking through The Outlandish Companion last night. (Which has spoilers through book 4) and it tells about how DG first had a 3 book deal for Outlander and then needed more and then it was 6 and she realized she still needed more to tell their story. I'm going to guess that it will end up being at least 9 books just because she seems so focused on that they came in 3s in the companion book.

I'm so glad you stuck it out and gave the first one a chance Jo. I told you it was worth it!!! :)

  • Oh and I may or may not have purchased the 20th Anniversary edition signed for $35. I'm dying waiting for it. haha
