Suit question

I have a second interview tomorrow. It's been 105+ degrees here lately, and their office was sweltering the other day (nothing like sweat running down your back during an interview).

If I wear a short-sleeved button-down, do you think it would be okay if I carried my suit jacket with me instead of wearing it? Or do I need to just suck it up and wear the jacket and hope for the best?

Re: Suit question

  • I would wear it when you first get there. But I think it would be fine to take it off during the actual interview. I'd do the shake hands portion wearing the full suit and then pull it off and hang in on the chair before you sit down.

  • I would would wear it walking in the door. They may or may not offer you to take it off. A few have offered for me.I declined. I did take it off the second I was out of sight outside after the interview.
  • Hi there!

Did your interviewers wear suits during your first interview?

If not, I wouldn't bother with the jacket or, if you are uncomfortable not having it with you, just carry the suit jacket with you.  I was in the same position you were a few months ago - during the second interview I wore a black suit and wanted to die.  The people interviewing me wore khaki shorts and polos. Never saw that one coming.

Or - you could wear a nice shift dress and pearls.

  • I would wear a nice blouse and a skirt, by the second interview they are more interested in your resume and "fit" as opposed to your wardrobe.
