As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Do you have to link your Pinterest account with your Facebook account? I'm concerned about privacy.
Is there any way to get around putting your real first & last name?
Is there any way to get around making yourself searchable by name or email address? I won't care if people can see my pins but I don't want someone to be able to search for me specifically, KWIM?

I don't have FB, but I have a Pinterest account, so obviously, they don't have to be linked.
My first name is SoTasty and my last name is SoYummy. This solves the searching by name issue. Just use a dummy email address if you are concerned about that.

Looks like they now require linking to a FB or Twitter account to "help you find people you know and reduce spam." Says the Pinterest account can be unlinked from the other acct at any time but I'm not so sure I want it linked in the first place. Bummer!!
How about just linking a dummy twitter account?

the initial linking doesnt actually do anything. it doesnt post on fb or twitter that you have a pinterest account. it doesnt import anything or export anything if you do not want it to. Once you sign in just go to the accounts section and disable the link to that particular social media outlet and you are good to go.
I use pinterest daily. i've got 45 boards and am pretty well versed if you have questions.
