FB friend's post re: London riots
"This is what a disarmed country looks like. This is how little is left when free men and women surrender their right to keep and bear arms. Law-abiding British hide in their homes or businesses while police struggle to stop the looting and assaults"
Yea, because we don't have riots on America. Which is hardly the only thing that is wrong with this statement.
This isn't the first time he's said something obnoxious on FB, should have unfriended him ages ago.

Re: FB friend's post re: London riots
What a dumbass. Like we want all the rioters armed with guns too.
The other one that really pissed me off was super random. Bruce Springsteen is, apparently, a big liberal and speaks out on politics a lot. I don't really know much about him, so I wasn't aware. Awhile ago he was supposed to perform in this guy's city but Springsteen's cousin who worked as a roadie for him died and the concert got canceled. This guy wrote something along the lines of, "So glad the concert was canceled, I don't want that liberal @sshole in my city."
Seriously? A person died, a person with a family and people who loved him, and this guy is just happy a musician won't be playing in his city because he differs politically? Like I said, reeeeally should have unfriended him earlier.

Some people really have a stick up their arse. I have a friend who is 180 degrees polar opposite in their political views to me. The stuff he posts.O.M.G. I can't unfriend him though, he's actually DH's best friend from high school.
Sure you can. Why let something that is ancient history between your DH and this guy stop you? Would your DH actually be upset or mind? I mean, you aren't forcing DH to unfriend him. I tend to just hide feeds before unfriending, though.
This.
Ugh, and double ugh. I guess it's to be expected that the loonies come out...
I would agree that in the perfect world no one would have guns.... but wasn't there a guy in Croydon who was found shot during the riots? The reality is that there are people who have guns and unfortunately its the people who are in gangs and/or live in council housing. We own a gun back in the US and I definitely would feel safer if we have some way of protecting our home here, too as the riots got pretty close!
Or at least if the police had guns. How are they supposed to protect themselves or us if they don't have any ways of doing so? What about just tasers? There has to be some way for police to protect themselves and the city without putting their bodies in harms way.
This. What an idiot.
That's what I was thinking, too. I stand by the fact that I think the police needed more arms and authority in the UK for situations like this but NOT the freaking looters!
Yea, and I mean, even American cops try to use non-lethal methods in riots rather than going in with guns drawn. The idea that somehow people going into the streets with guns would have improved this situation makes no sense to me.
