My son's birthday is in the middle of February. We will be going back home to be with family for Christmas and will be coming back around January 8th. Would you do A, B, or C??
A) Would you have a birthday party for him while you were with family (after the New Year)?? It would be about a month and a half before his actual birthday!!
Do it late...we may be going back in April as well.
C) None of the above. Have his party in The Netherlands and skype with family for cake, etc.
Re: First Birthday?
Unless I had my family coming over to us for my sons actual first birthday, I'd go with option A.
We did C. And it worked out really well. For my family he opened their presents in front of them via skype. And later for DH's family he had his cake and opened their presents. We were dealng with 3 vastly different time zones, but I think it worked really well. And it is for me really, since DS won't remember a thing and could care less.
We went to a Kids Cafe the day before.
I would not do either A or B.
I would actually do A and C.
I'd celebrate with our family/friends while home and then celebrate again when it is his actual birthday. Maybe do something small with just the family for his actual birthday.
Personally, I would feel really strange not celebrating C's birthday around the actual date because I'm quite sentimental about stuff like that. Just me though...

But, I really wanted to celebrate with family too (Both my family and DH's family live in Louisiana). I think I might feel strange celebrating before his big day. I don't know!! And it is totally for me!! I know he won't remember any of it! But a lot of the pictures I have from my older DS's birthday are priceless! Most of which are with family..... hmmmm??
