Sunflower fields in Harford County
When is the best time to go to the sunflower fields? I remember we went last year around Labor Day and they were still beautiful, but a lot of them near the edges of the field were dead/dying. We want to try to go this year when they're all in bloom, so I guess it's got to be sometime soon, but I haven't heard much about them this year.

There is a SMALL field of them by Jones farm on Rt 7 but it looks like they are all about to die. Last year there were tons across from Royal Farms on Jarrettsville Rd/Hess Rd and I asked me dad to keep an eye out for them this year since he goes there all the time for coffee. Him and my mom both said they thought they only did them every few years in a crop rotation.
Yea, I have been telling my husband to watching for them.... it looks they planted corn this year instead. I know Hess Road/Jarrettsville Road is corn this year (I drove by it last week)and the field behind Keene, isn't sunflowers either (I think corn). I haven't checked the place Mary sent me to last year. I know there was a place up near where Meg lives but I haven't been that way yet. I haven't seen them in southeastern PA either
I know they usually do sunflowers every couple of years to help the soil for corn.

Darn it! I really thought this was a yearly thing and since last year is the first time we ever went to see them, I had visions of taking pictures of Sydney every year in the flowers. Boo
Yeah I have to go check my pictures that we took last year of the nephew, bro and SIL. I am not sure the date so I will check. I know that they do rotate them. Last year they were at the intersection of 23 and 165. The year before that they were right next to Keene Dodge (where they had the Jarrettsville Carnival last year).
I really hope they have it this year. I would like to take pictures of both nephews, and perhaps a few belly shots of Nugget in utero.
ETA: My pictures were added onto my FB page on September 6th. So I must have taken them within that week.
Our pictures last year were taken on September 11, but I do remember that was the end of the season.
I sure hope there's some this year!
