Latest Online Addiction
So my SIL just introduced me to Pinterest.com, and I've been on that site every day this week.
I'm not really a crafter, but this site makes me want to drop whatever I'm doing and to the nearest Michael's asap. Not to mention, their gift ideas are quite clever. My girlfriend is getting married next month, and there are a few ideas I plan on using...I just wish I knew about the site before her shower last month.
It's a mixture of DIY, product lust, and general inspiration. Definately worth checking out!

There's no way for Pinterest's search to know what an image is, unless people caption them correctly. Some images may have coding that describes what they are, but most certainly don't.
i had a feeling that's how it worked. i try and caption mine so that they'll come up in searches. i wish everyone else would too...

Omg I love love love love pinterest. I am obsessed. I was actually getting frustrated bookmarking so many things I like and accessing them later, especially recipes. I have like a bookmarked folder of hundreds of them. Not only can I find so many great things on there, I'm now in the process of converting them over. I can't even log in at work or else I will seriously lose a whole day.
About 15 seconds ago, no lie, I realized that businesses are beginning to use it (Whole Foods) and while their boards are kind of related to their brand, they have a lot of random stuff. Ummmm how do I get THAT job. I can sit there and pin things all day long!
You can pin anything, including recipes. Many people have recipe boards.

i'm going to try and make this question make sense and hope someone can help/answer:
i have the "pin it" bookmark thingy on my bookmarks toolbar so that i can pin images i come across on websites outside of pinterest. but on some websites (i think mostly blogs), i'll click the "pin it" thing and it says something like "sorry, can't find any big images". are the images really not "big" enough, or is there just another way you have to pin images from these sites?
The photos have to be in a certain format for Pinterest to recognize them as images.

I just signed up not to long ago. Haven't pinned too much yet--like jewels, I like to bake, so I've mostly been adding to my food board. I used to just cut and paste the links for recipes I found into a word document, but this is much more fun and organized :-)

I feel like I'm missing something on Pinterest. Maybe I'm not on it enough, or don't have enough friends.
Do you just browse through your friends or do you browse through strangers?

You can do either. I mostly browse through my friends, but I'm also following a decent number of people, several of whom are bloggers that post a ton. But you can also click "Everything" and then narrow down to the categories you're interested in.
Like other people said, the main attraction for me is having one place to bookmark things that I can easily sort through.
I do both. I am following a lot of people so I can see all of their pins. Once I run out there, I go to the "Everything" board and pin from there.
My recent obsession is collecting recipes involving pumpkin. I am dying for it to be fall.
