Soooo I joined Pinterest because I was looking for hair inspiration and I think it looks really interesting.
I'm not sure what I do with it now.
I noticed a few of you are now "following" me. Can you give me some insight? Do I create boards and then pin pictures that I find inspiring to those boards??
Re: Pinterest
Love Love Love Love Love Pinterest. You can definitely find things existing on pinterest that you can "repin" to your own boards.
The beauty of it though is that when you find something that you love on a blog or anywhere else online you now have the "pin it" button in your browser toolbar. When you find something you like hit the pin it and a popup will come up so that you can choose the photo to pin it and you pick the board category that it best fits in. Its like a visual "bookmark". Then all of your "food" things can be put together and you have a direct link to a recipe vs. having a blog bookmarked that you then have to search through and maybe forget what recipe you liked from that blog.
Did it get you to add a "Pin It" button to your web browser toolbar? That's the easiest way. Basically, when you find a picture you want to pin, you hit the Pin It button and it shows you just the images on whatever page you're viewing, with the option to pin each one. You click on the one you want, tell it which of your boards it should go on, and give it some kind of description and you're good.
You can move things around between boards, so if you pin something to a board now and then want to move it to some new board you've created, you can. Like, if you pin something to a board of images of home stuff, then down the road you want to sort it into separate boards for LR, DR, kitchen, etc., you can.
ETA: Just like MrsHahn says, it's like a visual bookmark that you can get to from anywhere. I'm still getting into the habit of using it instead of bookmarks, but it's been great so far.
I luuurve Pinterest! Right now, I have been pinning a lot of paint and decor ideas. I also created boards for yoga stuff, clothing and styles I like, and a few others I can't remember off hand. When I see a DIY house project I like, I pin it, because Pinterest keeps the link and the image right there at hand. It's kind of nice to have a visual storyboard of links rather than folders of bookmarks.
If you downloaded that "bookmarklet" thingy you can pin from anywhere on the web, which is nice. I also have just searched on Pinterest and looked at things others have pinned, that's where a lot of my pins came from.
Mostly I just like having all those pretty things in one place to look at and get back to a link if I need to!
OK. I think I'm getting it.
When I go to look at my board I don't see anything unless I click on a square on the board...then it shows me my images that I've pinned. I want them to show up as a collage look like I see on your boards.
exactly. now some of them have images but some don't.
