What is your favorite "day trip" in the Detroit area? (the Zoo, Greenfield Village, a special beach, etc)

Re: QOTD
I would have to say the zoo, although unfortunately we haven't even been once this summer! We had a membership last summer and went quite a few times, and I really wanted to take Emma again this summer. I blame DH though, for working a crazy ass schedule and never feeling like going. Now that I have a car I just might take her myself. I better do it quickly before I start waddling around the grounds like an animal.
Greenfield village is another place that I want to go to with DH and Emma. He didn't grow up on this side of the state, so he never went to the museum on fieldtrips or anything. I'd love to show him all the fun stuff it has to offer other than just the special events that we've been to.
Im not sure that we really have any. Though we do enjoy going to the zoo every one in a while.
We have only been to Greenfield Village once, and that was back when we were dating. We might have to go there sometime in the near future.
We also really enjoy spending a day at Kensington Park, they have a lot to do there with the waterpark and petting farm.
I didn't realize that Kensington had a petting farm!
Probably the zoo, we have a membership & DD loves the animals.
I haven't gone to any of the beaches around here, I'd rather go to South Haven or the west Michigan beaches. We went to South Haven all the time when I went to WMU.
South Haven is awesome! We used to try to get out there at least once a summer. Since DH and I are on this side of the state now, we've been trying to figure out towns and fun places, over here, to visit... But we have yet to find a place quite like South Haven...
