Tasty Thursday

What is your ALL TIME favorite meal?  Feel free to include dessert if you're a dessert fan like myself.

If its from a restaurant, name which one, if its homemade and you have a recipe feel free to add that too :)

Re: Tasty Thursday

  • My first choice is always Filet at Morton's.  As for dessert - I was a huge fan of the tres leche cheesecake at cheesecake factory, but they no longer sell it.  I still love their cheesecakes - there are just too many to choose from :)

Growing up my favorite homemade dinner was my moms chicken and dumplings, which reminds me I need to ask her for the recipe.

  • Tough question!!! Can I go for one dish for each season? Lol, okay, I'll stick with autumn since it's my favorite season. So, let's see, I have to go with a dish I run to for comfort food - chili. A bowl of perfectly seasoned chili in autumn or winter with buttery GF cornbread for a side. Easy to make in the crock pot, filling, and can be either vegetarian or filled with meat, and I can eat it in my PJ's in front of the fire!

For dessert, I guess I'll have to go with summer since that is fruit season, and I love fruit. It's a toss-up between my hubby's mom's strawberry pie (a really interesting recipe with a meringue crust, fresh strawberry filling and cream and caramel drizzled on top) OR *my* mom's GF blueberry cobbler which always ends up being more like an amazing hot blueberry topping you can smother vanilla ice cream with.

  • Steak or prime rib with mashed potatoes (made with cream) and sugar snap peas.  Dessert would be chocolate raspberry cheesecake or Bailey's Irish Cream pie.

  • Steak and potatoes.  Mmmm...that's some good eatin!  Dessert is a tie between cheesecake and apple cobbler with ice cream.  Both of those desserts are so bad I only have them once in a great while ;o)

Homemade would have to be my grandma's fried chicken (southern cliche, I know).  It was just sooo good.  She's been gone for almost 10 years now, but I can still remember it.

  • I love food.  Way too much lol!  And it's so hard to choose just one thing.

Around here we have great dim sum. I also really like Middle Eastern food and sushi.  One restaurant I really miss is South City Kitchen in Atlanta.  They have amazing Southern cuisine, which is something you don't get here.

Zara -- I am with you on the fruit!  I can't enough of summer fruit, especially cherries.

For the Swedish Fair celebrating Midsummer, we had a great picnic:

    Smoked salmon with dill sauce

tiny potatoes with green beans and cherry tomatoes

    a pluot gallette
