Re: Top Chef Fans
Stand up for something you believe in.
yes, yes, and yes!!!
I cant agree enough- I didnt realize the relationship between Bourdain and Ripert until I saw the no reservations episode with them both. I LOVE them.
By the way- did you ever see the Real Housewives of OC with them visiting Ripert's restaurant. They were beyond rude.
We saw Bourdain & Ripert in Boston doing a Q & A session, they are SO funny together. They basically made fun of each other the entire time. It was cool to see them interacting and teasing each other but still having a ton of respect for each other even with sometimes conflicting viewpoints on food and the restaurant industry.
ETA: And in the first issue of Lucky Peach (David Chang's new magazine), there's an interview/conversation between Wylie Dufesne & Bourdain which is absolutely hilarious. I love reading the differing opinions about how food & restaurants "should" be viewed
ETA2: I actually don't mind Emeril. We ate at one of his restaurants in New Orleans and it was amazing. I think he built himself from the ground up and makes genuinely good food. I was surprised, because I expected to be disappointed, but after eating his food, I feel like he might be unfairly lumped in with awfuls like Rachel Ray
I actually like Emeril as long as he dials down his Food Network personality.
I was very dissapointed when I read about Hugh being a judge. Not only was he rude and annoying on TC Masters, but he also would have been the first to go had the one chef not dropped out. And his unibrow is hard to look at.
I was hoping they'd keep Ripert or Bourdain. Or even have Hubert Keller in there again. In all honesty, what was wrong with having the fourth judge rotate each episode?
Really? I had not heard that. I do love me some NIC though. I hope this next season is as good as the last one. I thought the 2nd season of NIC was lacking, but loved the last group. Will be interesting to see who else wil be competing.
I'm not as opposed to Emeril as I am Hugh. Emeril can be annoying, and uber commercial, but I feel like in this kind of role he'll be much more tolerable. It's not like he'll be able to pimp his cookware or whatever while judging, you know? When he's not playing that over the top obnoxious role, he's actually pretty cool - I saw more of his tamed down side in a lot of the after-Katrina coverage. If he sticks with that professional, carign side, I think he'll be ok. And I'd tolerate anything over Hugh. Ick.
Yesssss! I don't know if he'll be super successful in that arena, but I love Spike. And his food is delish.
Stand up for something you believe in.
I just cant get past the unibrow from Hugh- ugh!
And for Spike- GO AWAY. I didnt like him ever,
