A clash of kings

I just got the 2nd book from the Song of Ice and Fire series! (Game of Thrones is the first)  I am super excited about it! It is the nerdy bookish type excitement that I got from LOTR and Harry Potter and Jane Austen! yay!

Re: A clash of kings

  • What is the Game of Thrones about? I am about to finish The Name of the Wind. I am thinking about trying to read Harry Potter again. I read the first book but I couldnt finish the second or third book. I really want to like the series since I bought the whole complete box set.

  • Ahh, I just started on the second book, too!  I'm not as into it as I was with the first one, it seems to be taking longer to really get going (even though it's the same story continuing).

  • OH! I just started the second one also!  I loved the HBO series they've started as well.  Have you seen it?
  • If you continue HP, I can tell you that the 2nd book was my least favorite and that I think the series is at its best starting with the 5th book. Game of Thrones is pretty neat because the author thought up an entire world that is set to a medieval type backdrop with an entire history that occurs before the first book is set. The characters are written pretty well and there is a lot of action with people fighting to take over the kingdom. The first book kind of sets up each side of the fight, with in detail histories for each character. So there are knights and kings and dragons and princesses and all that jazz :) I really enjoyed the first book and have only just started the second, but  don't want to put it down!

Yes! I saw it first and really liked it, which is how I heard of the books in the first place. I think they did really well on the series and I can't wait for the next season!

  • I am in the middle of Clash of Kings and it is SO good!
  • I'm also in the midst of the 2nd book.  I love the series but didn't see the special.
I like pineapples...they make life just so much more interesting.
  • I have the 2nd and 3rd on my bookshelf waiting for my next trip. I read the first one in a weekend, I couldn't put it down! I'm waiting to watch the series until I finish the books, I kind of ruined parts of HP by seeing the movies. These are usually not my type of books but I was really sucked into the first one, it's just so engrossing!

  • I didn't know this was a book. I caught parts of the series on HBO and liked it. I'm going to have to look into getting these books. Definitely let us know how the second one is once you're done.
