need advice for window treatments

This is my window in my spare bedroom/office. It's really messy and crowded right now because we moved everything out of the room for the nursery into it. But I am working on it while H works on the bathroom remodel (I'm not allowed in the bathroom because of drywall dust and insulation fibers). I just finally picked out a comforter and then I got the white valances. Now I need new blinds. I'm thinking of shades? Anyone good with window treatments? First pic is with the blinds open, second is with them closed.

Thanks:) I'm wondering if shades will get too dusty? Like lampshades do. I'm bored and don't feel great so I'm parked on the recliner and I'll be here
Sun out for guests is a point I selfishly haven't thought of. My house is sooo dark and cavernous that I tend to feel like I need to allow any trace of natural sunlight in that I can. But that's not cool for the guests I will be having who want to sleep in.
Now I'm thinking this. (if this works)

That's a good idea because the off white will match the dresers, but I think I'm totally going towards the dark blue now. I just bought a horizontal blind for my dining room for my birthday from Blinds To Go and now I have 20% off to use in the next 6 months, so I'm thinking I want to do the 3 bedrooms from there. But I do love Ikea! Have you seen the Ikea Hackers blog? It's one of my faves! How is your house coming along? The last I remember you were doing the carpeting, that was forever ago! Any new projects?
I'll have to look for it. Make sure you post an after shot once you decide on something.
My house is coming along great! Thanks for asking. We've done so much since putting the new carpet in. We tiled the kitchen & foyer. I love it! We just put a hot tub in the basement & got a new slider down there. I'm trying to talk DH into painting down there. Right now it's just a basic beige. Boring. Maybe in the fall when he's not so busy at work. We also stained the back deck. It came out great.
Other items on the to do list includes granite in the kitchen & new vanities for the bathrooms.
DH is concerned with over improving the house, but another house in our neighborhood just sold for $20k more than we paid for ours & they didn't have any of the upgrades we already did.
DH is already getting sick of our association rules & wants a single family home sooner than I thought... So who knows. Plus, he's considering buying the business that he works for & I'd like to open a dance studio within the next couple years. There's a lot of variables going on right now. We shall see.
This is what I was thinking - a little something to dress up a plain shade. I wish I had seen this idea when I had roller shades. I've seen other variations in blogland, but the options could be endless with different ribbons/trim, pulls and fabric glue.

That is really cute!
Aegis that is so cute! I could totally do that on the blue roller shades, fun!
And Jen, you go girl!! That is a ton of stuff to your house, and I'm totally jealous that you have a basement. My brother has an awesome one up in NY (although they had really bad flooding this year, but that was the worst in history up there).
