Peyton will only be 3 months old at christmas and I know even though she will have no clue about it she still needs some gifts.
For the ladies who had a little one at Christmas what kind of gift did you get your little one? I need to look around but thought maybe I ask to see if there is something cool out there that your child liked at 3 months.
She will have a stocking this year and I will put some books in there and some little teethers and things.

Re: Kids and Christmas
This year we will get him some clothes and toys. It will be fun watching him open the gifts. I want to get him a wagon, but I would rather get that as a birthday gift so we can use it this fall.
I agree. We are not going to go overboard with gifts this year or anytime because I want my child to appreciate what she gets and not expect it. Like you I have seen kids who think they are entitled to everything and it never turns out well.
We will probably do one toy that is age appropriate and a few little things.
I have a different feeling about christmas, I feel like that is the one time that you can really spoil your kids. That is the one thing that my mother did and I did not expect things the rest of the year. I think you can have both things - a spoiled kid a christmas and a kid that knows that it is a special time and not to expect year round.
With that being said, Em was older and we got her a few different things. But I agree with the pp about Violet the dog. She loved that, even at an early age.

Ditto this.
Have you thought about getting her something sentimental to mark her first Christmas?
I have read where some people buy their child a ornament every year (or make one) and when the day comes for their first married Christmas, they have a tree full of ornaments.
My first christmas gift from my parents was a wooden rocking horse. Funny enough DH got the EXACT same one when he was a baby
Lincoln was only 6 weeks at his first Christmas. We got him some custom cloth blocks with horse fabric on them and a few books. Santa brought him some pajamas, pacifiers, and a few other things.
Last year we got him books, some toy trucks, a barn toy, and something else I don't remember now. Santa brought him more books, bananas (The biggest hit! lol), and a few small toys.
With Lincoln's birthday, Christmas, and Stanton's birthday all so close, they will probably each get one big gift for their birthdays and a big gift to share for Christmas and some small gifts. My mom goes overboard at Christmas, so I try to keep it simple at our house. Not to mention, we're usually broke with so many birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries between November and January.
I do the yearly ornaments! My parents always did that for me, and it is such a special thing now that they are gone for me to put them on the tree each year. Makes me feel like they are close by at the holidays.
Thanks ladies. You all have given me some great ideas. I love the yearly ornaments.
The 4 boys I babysit a lot and consider my kids their parents get them all matching pj's that they wear christmas morning and I think that is special too and something they look forward to every year (well until they become teenagers maybe
)
My mom did the pj thing also. It was the only gift that we could open christmas eve. And trust me, even as teenagers, we liked getting the pjs!

I just thought I'd mention that I was two months old at my first Christmas, and I still have the gift my grandma gave me...a stuffed teddy bear named Buffy. I slept with him every night until...well, high school. Maybe even college.
He had a little wind-up thing and would play "Rockabye Baby." I cried when the music stopped working (when I was, like, 12).
So just because your infant is too young to really appreciate something now doesn't mean that they won't treasure it in the future!
