DOTD - TGIF!

yes, I did see this one earlier in the week, and saved it for today. Big Smile

TGIF! What's your favorite way to de-stress after a hard week?

This is going to be so lame. If work has been stressful, I feel better if I come home and accomplish some mundane task (like laundry, or ironing, or whatever). I know, lame. But I need the sense of accomplishment. Then, I can have a glass of wine (or heck, who am I kidding? I have the wine while I am ironing -- and watching DVR'd TV - or Gilmore Girls!), and relax.

If I have had a hard week, I do not like to plan a night out. I want to be in comfy clothes and not worry about getting home.

This week has been a bit stressful -- tonight, I plan to see The Help. I can't find anyone to go with me, though, so if you're reading this and willing to come to western Fairfax County/eastern Loudon County, meet up!

Re: DOTD - TGIF!

  • Watching really trashy or girly tv shows with an alcoholic beverage Big Smile  Pretty excited today because even though I am suppose to be off and am still going to work, after work I am going to go sample some wines across the street and pick up a few chocolate or oatmeal stouts and make beer floats from them tonight to try, yum!

  • As expected, I'm all about de-stressing with a good happy hour --- since I work from home I usually can't wait to get out of here.  Absent a happy hour buddy - as will likely be the case tonight - I'm all about getting a nice pedi and just zoning out and reading my book.

  • Putting the kids to bed, eating some take-out, drinking some wine, and watching some trashy TV. Or taking the kids to the grandparent's house and going on a date with DH.

  • Wine, pizza, and mindless TV. I'm looking forward to doing that tonight, as a matter of fact.

  • If I know it's going to be a super stressful week, and one where I feel like I will deserve a reward for surviving it (a big event, the end of the fiscal year, etc), I will schedule a massage for Friday night.  It gives me something to look forward to, and it really helps me let go of the week and start the weekend off right.

If it is just a long randomly stressful week, I will get food delivered and veg on the couch with Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson.

  • take out and the husband dealing with the kiddo to allow me to watch one of my favorite movies. when i'm in a bad mood/stressed out i need to be alone.
  • Takeout and after the kiddo is in bed, TV. Friday nights I prefer to just chill. But I can be talked into an 8 pm mani-pedi followed by dessert out!

This is me.  Also, I sprint.  Anytime i'm stressed out, I sprint as far as I can until I can't breath, then I turn around to mosey on home.  I feel about 80% better after that, then that's where the booze, pizza and crap tv comes in.

  • 3 simple things....

    1. real housewives of _______ (insert whatever city)

    2. red wine

    3. dark chocolate

(and maybe a 4th which is healthier than the above...walk the dog or go for a bike ride. always helps clear the head!)

what time are you thinking of going to see the help? i'd be up for that!

    happy friday ladies!!!!

  • The second I come home from work or the gym, I put on PJs. I don't care if it's 5:15. My other best destresser is a big-a$$ ice cream sundae. Lately it's been moosetracks ice cream, salted peanuts, and mint hot fudge (would prefer regular hot fudge but we're using what we already have).

After a rough week, wine just makes me fall asleep on the sofa at 8:00 p.m. so I try to avoid it, unless falling asleep at 8:00 p.m. is the only thing that'll cure it! Stick out tongue I did look forward to Friday Night Lights every Friday but someone decided to cancel it...

  • I'll do one of two thigs. Gather friends for a happy hour Friday at my favorite Mexican place or Tortise and Hare. Usually we only do a few drinks/dinner and then watching a movie with H at home. Or if it's a really stressfull week, I'll go on a nice long hard run, and then eat whatever I want! Tonight I'm painting the masterbedroom...I guess that's a third way to relieve stress!
  • I also do takeout and vegging in front of the tv.  Or sleeping, alone in the bed, with only the dog.  Either one will clear some stress immediately.

This exactly.  If it's been a really long week, a little retail therapy may also be required.

  • It's the little things, take-out and DH cleaning up after dinner.  With the 2 kiddos, going out isn't often an option anymore - but I love, love weekends where I have book club or ladies night out or faith sharing so I can be kid free for a few hours with friends.  That's the best pick me up.
  • unless i'd already had plans for a happy hour or night out, i generally like pizza, wine, and quality time with the tv after a rough week. sometimes a mani/pedi before that but usually just decompressing at home.

This is me as well. I agree with Pam, after a stressful week, the last thing I want to do is go out. I want to go home, make an easy dinner, put on comfy clothes and veg in front of the tv.

Same here. I'll also add working out, particularly my zumba class, though it's only on Thursdays. It gives me the energy and motivation to finish out the week.

  • work stress has been a little on the high side lately but running or Zumba make me feel better. Followed by TV and ice cream :-0

  • Is it sad to just say "wine"? Seriously, sitting on the couch with DH chatting, drinking wine, watching TV (and DH on the video monitor), preferably in elastic-waist pants, is all I need. Well and throw in some chocolate, too.

  • If I have something planned for Friday, it's usually fun, so that's fine. We've been doing Herndon's Friday Night Live most Fridays this summer, which we love because it's low-key and outdoors (and there's beer and dancing!).

Other seasons I like coming home Friday and spontaneously deciding to go out to dinner with Otto. We have the best conversations when we have each other's full attention in a restuarant. A bottle of wine usually helps the deep conversation along.

And then, like many of you others, I love a good night with pjs, take-out, wine, and TV/a movie. So relaxing and usually mindless - love it!

Pam - we're doing FNL tonight because we don't want to pass up the gorgeous weather. If you don't see the movie tonight, I'll go with you Sunday.
