Moms- FP rock and play sleeper?

I think I remember a discussion about the FP rock and play sleeper and many of you raved about it.  (Forgive me for not searching through the old threads for it- I'm working on little sleep and little time to sit at the computer)   Is this thing as great as I hear?  My little guy possibly has reflux- I'm not sure- but whatever it is, he can't lay flat w/o grunting, crying, etc.  He's been sleeping in his swing b/c of the incline but that's not easy to lug up and down the steps every morning :)  He's not really a fan of the bouncy seat we have.  So I'm considering running to BRU this morning and getting this FP rock and play.  Anyone's little ones have issues like this and did you use this sleeper and did it help?  TIA!

Re: Moms- FP rock and play sleeper?

  • The rock and play was a life saver for me.  My daugher had reflux.  She wasn't a fan of the swing or bouncy, she wouldn't lay flat in her crib or pack and play.  This was the one thing she would sit/sleep in.  For the price, it is well worth it.  It's also really easy to fold up and take with you when you are going someplace.  I can't say enough good things about it.

     Good luck!

  • We didn't deal with reflux but my daughter slept in the RNP for 3 months. It is awesome! It's nice and light so it's easy to move. I credit this for allowing me to shower every day-I'd drag it into the bathroom and she'd nap in it while I did my thing. It's also nice bc I pulled it right next to the bed and I could just look right over and see her. When she would stirni could just reach over with my hand or even my foot and rock it. It's totally worth it!

  • My son had reflux pretty bad and aside from the swing this was the only other place he would sleep until we finally got the reflux under control with the right meds.  Like the other pp's said it's great because you can fold it flat and it's light so you can take it anywhere.  Good luck, I know reflux is a killer!  We had to try a few different meds and switch to soy formula before it started to calm down for him but the reflux went away around 9 months so there is light at the end of the tunnel!

  • Hi,

My son also had reflux. Its horrible. We used the Rock N Play often and he loved it. I think its worth the price and it was a life saver for us too!

  • I loved it, it was awesome. I didn't bother with a bassinet. MH bought the RnP the night before I came home from the hospital and that's where our daughter slept for the next 3 months. No reflux issues, more for space issues. It fit right next to the bed side (which was great since our room is on the small side). It was nice to be able to look right over into the RnP to check on her. No problems with swaddling, no problems transitioning to the crib.

  • thanks so much for all your opinions.  i went out and bought one today.  i'm glad to hear such positive things about this!  i'm hoping this will help him sleep a little better.

oh and for those whose little ones had reflux- what were their symptoms?.  my little guy can't sleep flat on his back, grunts A LOT (i'm listening to him now as he's in his swing- sounds so uncomfortable),sometimes after he wakes up he'll have bubbles in his mouith.  i never dealt w this w dd so any advice you can give would be great. thanks!!

  • He screamed.  A lot.  He started screaming while taking his bottles, arching his back and pushing the bottles away.  He was also the king of spit up.

We started with Zantac and some other med and neither was working.  I switched doctors because I wasn't happy with how they were handling it and the new doc put him on Prilosec and suggested the soy and his symptoms all but disappeared.

He still needed to sleep on an incline though which is why the RnP was a lifesaver.  He did not like it when we tried to elevate the crib by putting a pillow under his mattress.

  • Thanks, Shannon.  I'll have to watch for these symptoms in my little guy. If he doesn't get better in a week the pedi said we may try meds.

  • I forgot to add he also always sounded like he was breathing through mucus.  Kind of like he needed to cough and clear his throat.  Apparently that is the reflux constantly going up and down in the back of their throat.

  • Our good friends raved about product--their daughter had horrible reflux, and they said it was the only thing she could sleep in.

We plan on using it as a bassinet.  We just put it together last night and I really like how light and portable it is!
