Friend Looking for a sublet

Hi, long time no see. A friend of mine just got a job at UMD and is looking for a sublet for the fall semester. Anyone know of anything? TIA!

Hope all are well and you have a wonderful weekend.

Re: Friend Looking for a sublet

  • I just saw this posted on a listserv (it's in Takoma Park, which is about a 15 minute drive from UMD):

Spacious, Sunny Basement Bedroom w/ Private Bath for Rent in TP

We have a terrific large home in Takoma Park and we're looking for an easy-going, non-smoking housemate to share it with. Our house is new - just 8 years old -but was built with a Victorian flair. It has 9 ft ceilings, crown moulding, oak and bamboo floors. The first floor has a living room, dining room, family room with fireplace, large kitchen with table & 2 fridges, half-bath and laundry room and a deck out back. The house is about a mile from the metro - a 15 minute walk or 5 min bus ride. We are a progressive couple, with two cats, and have 10 month old twin daughters! I am an ESOL teacher, yoga & art teacher and love to work in our garden. Lee is a bicyclist, does a creative improvisational form called InterPlay, and is an electrical engineer. The bedroom has a large double window and is light filled and spacious. It also has a hook-up to FIOS for your own TV. You have a private full bath. There is also a large family room in the basement with table & chairs, lots of art supplies to play with, and has a TV w/DVD. The rent for the furnished room is $745 + 1/4 of the utilities which includes: wireless FIOS internet/TV, gas, water, electric, security system & best of all - a cleaning service twice/month. Send an email or call Laura @ 301-318-7278. Avail 9/1

Ha! I was just about to post the same thing. :)

  • We rent out our basement.  I'm usually not in charge of picking the people though my husband is.  We live in Kensington.  It might be too far of a commute to College Park.  Google maps estimates it at 30 minutes but 495 is not the fastest moving road around.  If you think your friend would be interested I'll give you my DHs email address.  He has the contracts
  • We also rent out our 1 br basement apartment.  Separate entrance from the rest of the house, so it is private.  We're just north of Kensington.  If interested, have your friend email annenbill at gmail dot com. Please tell her to let us know this is a nestie referral.
