I know it's still Friday morning, but I'm going to go ahead and say it... we survived the first week post-maternity leave! But, I am seriously looking forward to the weekend.
So, what are your weekend plans?
This weekend is full of potlucks for us. Saturday we're going to someone else's housewarming party, and Sunday we're having a birthday celebration at our house for my grandmother, who turned 86 on the 8th. Oh, and a few extra hours of sleep hopefully.
Re: TGIF
I am getting a haircut tomorrow morning... and I soooooooooo need it! I really don't even want to go out today because my hair is out of control!
I'll be making my Jell-O aquarium tomorrow for my family's annual Fishing Tournament on Sunday. Or, maybe I'll make it today with Shannon while Kyle naps...
Fishing Tournament on Sunday. Shannon has been asking if she can use her Dora fishing pole at my aunt's house. Who am I to say no? I just hope that Kyle is happy enough on Sunday so that I can take her down to the water... if not, hopefully my sister or cousin will take her for me
A jell-o aquarium sounds seriously interesting... take a picture for me! Is it swedish fish in one solid block of jell-o?
I hope your sister or cousin takes Kyle so you can have a little fun with Shannon!
Jelly beans at the bottom of the fish bowl (for the rocks)... Blue Jell-O diluted with Knox plain gelatin to lighten it a bit (for the water)... I have one plastic plant... Haribo Gummi Clown Fish (I had bought Swedish Fish, then saw these!)
Basically, I'm hoping to achieve something like this --
Oh my gosh, asf! That is so cool!! I hope you share pictures afterward.
We have no big weekend plans. DH travels a lot for work (almost every week lately) but he came home last night even though he usually comes home Friday. So I really thought it was Saturday morning today, but I was sorely disappointed.
That aquarium sounds amazing! Love those fish you found too. You could put a few jelly beans in a class and pour the jello on top to see what happens even just for teh first few moments if you are concerned. Maybe wait a bit so the jello can cool just a little if they do melt off the outer coating. ? I really have no other thoughts. :-) I knwo there are candies that look like rocks and the ones that are sourish that you get at halloween a lot (I can't think of their name, but they look like fish rocks- bright colors).
We are having a yard sale tomorrow- yikes! I am not really all that excited about it, besides when it is over and i have some cash in my hands and junk out of my house. :-) Sounds horrible, but I just don't feel like dealing- but at least it is supposed to be a really nice day weather wise. Not sure yet sundsy, it is supposed to rain, so that puts a damper on plans.
I love the idea of fruit roll ups for the plants!
And the fish rock things are Nerds! But, I think those will bleed once they get wet... I agree, just pour some water over the jelly beans (or nerds) and test it out. If it gets murky, you could put the rocks in and just pour a little jello over the top and let that harden before you do the rest, and that would hopefully keep it from making everything murky.
Bought Twizzler Pull-n-Peel instead of Fruit Roll-Ups. I think they'll keep their form better, and still be quite plant-like (despite being red!)
I'm having way too much fun with this dessert.
Oooh! Those will be great. They will look purplish in the blue jello water, and there are tons of purple sea-plants! It'll be very realistic
