Re: FFFC/AWF
I know I sound like a broken record. I feel like all I biitch about is my great grandma: the woman needs to go into a nursing home. She has zero courtesy for anyone. She woke me up a couple hours ago just to have me watch her walk from her bedroom to the bathroom. She has me 'help' her get in bed when she is perfectly capable of doing all these things herself. THEN, she hollered at me about 30 minutes later to fix her fuucking lamp. At 1:30 in the morning. When I got snappy with her she said, "I just wish you were more willing to do what I want you to do." *cue the jaw on the floor*
I know one of these days I'm going to be old. And, I hope like hell that my kids/loved ones will force my asss into a retirement/nursing home. I never want to ruin the memories of me for them like she has for me. I know that sounds absolutely awful.
I guess this is more of a vent. Sorry. I'm just pissed. It's 2 in the morning and I'm wide awake thanks to her antics. And, I'm bored. I know I shouldn't complain about it since she is paying me and all, but still. Sometimes, I just can't help it.
WTF is wrong with people?! I'm sure you look great!
Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but it rubs me the wrong way to see people using phones during meetings. I feel it is rude and unacceptable. I understand if you have an emergency, but excuse yourself. Checking your email is not an emergency.
And if you do it while I am talking, I'm going to be super pissed at you and lose respect for you.
I saw the pics that were posted of you yesterday - you do NOT look nine months pregnant. You look fantastic post-baby! I would've throat punched her. Ugh.
I totally agree with this. People who use any sort of technology not directly related to the meeting [iPads, phones etc] clearly have something better to do and should just step out. E-mails and such can wait for an hour. I bring my phone to meetings just in case JJ's daycare calls, but I definitely don't text or check e-mail on it. That's just rude.
I am so ready for Vegas, it isn't even funny. Even if this surgery is going to prohibit me from getting drunk and partying hard, at least I get to veg by a nice pool for a couple of days. Now I'm wishing we'd extended the trip a day or two instead of just doing this fly-by weekend thing.
First: Jamie, she lost her mind. I also saw the photos on FB. She's nuts. I hope you told her where she could stick it.
FFFC: I got the "official" rejection letter the other day from a job I applied for several months ago. A job I really, really wanted, and that I thought I was more than qualified for. The fact that I didn't even get a call back to interview for this position really was a blow. So I will be stalking that company's website to find out who got that job, and then I will stalk that person on LinkedIn and Facebook to try and figure out wtf they have that I don't. And I will probably hate that person for a long, long time. It's petty, I know. But I need to know.
AWF: One month until vacation! Thank God!

Well, I have had a good week!
I had a big stress at work related to hiring someone - and I have FINALLY hired the PERFECT person and I am muy thrilled.
Snowful and I will be in Dallas this weekend and I am way thrilled about that as well.
And I agree that playing on one's phone/IPad during meetings is muy rude (sorry, Oklagirl)
Hah, yes. I'm clearly bitter too. As far as Monday, I had a second interview yesterday and should find out next week (I thought it went well, but as you know, you can never tell). If I don't get this one I'll have yet another person in the world to utterly despise (and unfollow on Twitter). Did you ever call the guy to find out what's going on with you?

What did you end up wearing? I think it is a VERY good sign that you were interviewed even after the application deadline.
Crap. I'm going to have to start leaving the phone in my cube for meetings, huh? I'll take up doodling again.
Ginger, I'm a big fat scaredy cat. And we had a huge event at work yesterday and I couldn't step away to do it. I'm definitely at the very least calling the branch manager today. Maybe HR guy as well.
AWF: I accepted a job offer this week. I am so excited! Also this will help DH and I a lot since we will have our own work spaces now. First with DH's promotion now this, it seems like things are really falling in place for us.
FFFC: I went to the outlet mall last night before going to a meeting. I found a bag that I just love! (Puppywuppy you would love it because it's Kate Spade) I am really thinking about saving up for it because you know I need a new bag for my new job.
I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS BAG. IF IT WAS AT OFF SAKS THEN I KNOW WHICH BAG YOU ARE REFERING TO AND IN THAT CASE I GIVE MY APPROVAL AND YES YOU DEFINITELY NEED IT "FOR WORK."
USE OF ALL CAPS IS DEFINITELY WARRANTED IN THIS SITUATION.
It looked like this except it was cream with black trim
Okay, I'm going to be all FFFC and no AWF, because you all reminded me of two.
FFFC #1: Totally agree about the cell phones during meetings. Further, my H is on his iPhone waaay too much. He's all about Angry Birds and Words With Friends, and it seems like we can never sit down to dinner or to watch TV without him whipping out the phone to fling a bird or text back a friend. I admit that I love my phone too - Hanging With Friends is pretty addictive - but I try to leave it alone when we're hanging out. I swear I married a 16-year-old.
FFFC #2: One of my best friends is a guy. Said guy is about to get engaged to a SUPER high-maintenance girl. We're talking only wears certain designers, is an attorney, cares way too much about what social circles she's in, etc. Which is fine for some people, but I hate to see my sweet guy friend hitched to such a shallow person. He's talked to me quite a bit about the ring, and feels like he HAS to spend AT LEAST $20k, or she won't be happy. WTF? It grosses me out, but I don't want to tell him what I really think.
I want to hear more about this.
I ended up wearing a black and white sheath dress I have that's really flattering. Added a black cardigan wit a ruffle trim to it, pearls, and (for fun) some patent leather red pumps (3-inch heel, no platform, round toe--so nothing crazy or out there!). The moment I walked in I got a compliment from the receptionist, and when she saw my shoes she said they were awesome. So I guess that's a good thing!
okla, I hear you about being a wuss. I think you do need to call though! I still can't believe you're having those issues with them.

FFFC: I have a million and five things to do between getting the house showing level clean again for the appraisal next week, getting started packing, getting my clothes tagged for the JBF sale that is coming up, etc., but I cannot get myself up off my butt this week. I have been seriously lazy and the level of pet hair on my floor shows it. I think it's partly because I have agreed to start keeping a friend's daughter while she is teaching (after we have finished moving), so I know that my lazy moments will soon be few and far between with another kid to take care of M-F.
AW: I am going to go meet MIL to do some cleaning at the new house today. She will be giving me keys and a garage door opener, and we have been told we can start moving in whenever we want.
We don't actually close on our house until the 29th and aren't set to close on the new one until the 14th of next month, but because we are buying from family and the house has been vacant for some time, they are letting us go ahead and basically have the house now.
This particular person has no friends because she is RUDE to everyone. She has earned nothing in her own right and her parents bend to her every whim. She belittles everyone else's engagement rings, weddings, cars, etc... and now that it's her turn to figure out how much a real wedding actually costs, I think sticker shock has finally set in. Sure, when you are an A list celebrity, a 5-10 carat diamond ring is no big deal, but when you actually have to work for a living, you realize very fast that those kinds of rings are not even close to your budget, especially when you are marrying someone who has no money. Now she has to settle for a less than one carat, 1980s style engagement ring that no one is WOWing over.
Like I said... what comes around goes around.
Well, nothing wrong with a less than one carat ring but 1980s style? Yuck. If you tell me it is a hand me down from her mother I will wet my pants laughing.
