-Nope. I watched my son get circ'd and he slept through it. No blood, no tears. He had a plastic thing placed around the skin that fell off a week later. No cutting. He was a little irritable when he woke up, but he did great. We chose to circ for medical reasons, but I understand the other side of the spectrum. I'd start everywhere. I'd like to spread the cuts around as much as possible, although there are certain things I'd defund entirely in order to better use the money. For example, take away most farm/crop subsidies, put that money towards food stamp programs and nutrition education.

If I had a daughter I will not have her ears pierced until she is old enough to make the decision on her own. This is is how my mom did with me, and the reason behind it is the fact that my mom has really sensitive ears. They get very agitated, even infected, if she doesn't wear high quality earrings. She was afraid I'd be the same way (I am) and wanted me to have that knowledge before I made my choice.

I don't have an issue with the names of casualties being released. They gave the ultimate sacrifice and should be recognized as such. I will confess though that its bugging me a little bit that the service dog that was with them hasn't been named. I understand putting the men first, but the dog also gave its life in the line of duty. I would have an issue, however, if they were to release the names of the SEALS that got Osama. It potentially makes them a target, and that's not cool.

There was some controversy over whether or not the names of the fallen Seals should be released. Do you think they made the right decision in formally releasing the names? Why or why not? I think the families should be allowed to decide. If the next of kin wants the name released, sure, if they'd like their privacy respected, they should be allowed to keep it under wraps.
Should the remainder of states follow NY's (and other states) lead and legalize gay marriage? Yes. I also think polygamy should be allowed as long as the members are of legal age, it's consensual, and abuse (like Jeffs) is still persecuted.
If the presidential elections were happening tomorrow, who would you vote for (of the current possibilities)? I'm voting for Pres. Obama. I'm not as excited to vote for him as I was last time though.
Is spanking child abuse? I think spanking to the point that handprints are left, there's bruising, bleeding, etc is abuse. However, I spank Bean from time to time and see no problem with it. It's usually a last resort and is just a quick smack on the bum.
A group in CA is petitioning the gov't to make circumcision illegal. Do you believe (male) circumcision should be made illegal in the US? No, but if we ever have a boy we both agree that it's not an option. I'm with Ojo. I read an article on female circumcision and decided that if I was so against it for girls, it was silly to be okay with it for boys.
If you were Congress and had to cut programs to reduce spending, where would you start? (Dept of Mental Health, Military, certain facets of the military, welfare, social security, etc)? Why? I'm nowhere near intelligent enough to be able to know. I'd like to see them do a balance of cuts and increase revenue. I'd be okay with medical co-pays with a yearly maximum cap for military dependents though. Even something small like $10 a visit and something for prescriptions with some max cap for families.

I don't want my sister making parenting choices for my daughter, but I know she doesn't like my parenting decisions either. Doesn't mean our kids aren't still going to grow up to be productive members of society.
Yes. I'd legalize it all. Illegality doesn't keep people from doing drugs. Is the only reason you're not on heroine because it's illegal? All illegality does is turn ill people into criminals. The money spent on extra police officers to keep tabs on them and the money spent to incarcerate them could be used instead to fund publicly available treatment programs. And there'd still be tons of money left over.

Is spanking child abuse? It depends on how it's done IMO. We won't let anyone else spank our children, and we aren't even sure we'd be comfortable doing it ourselves. I think with an open hand is a whole lot better (and not as much child abuse) as a wooden spoon or belt. I'll never agree to either of those. I was spanked twice as a child and it was for serious offences only.

No. This to me is one step from saying that we should make abortion illegal again. If you make it illegal, people will get it done in a back alley which is less safe for the child.

I would cut down on welfare (drug testing pre-approval, ect) and start a slow trickle of cutting down social security. Neither are programs that can just be cut immediately though.

I probably won't, but only because I had mine pierced and I managed to get the earrings out on more than one occasion and worried my mom so bad she just let them close instead of letting me choke. But, I do love a baby with little baby earrings.
