New Dishwasher

So, I'm pretty sure we are going to need a new dishwasher.  It's been smelling funky for a little bit, the other day there was some weird steam, and now it's leaking.  Any suggestions for a place to buy one .. I know there are a million choices, but just thought I'd check to see if anyone has anything good/bad to say about anyplace in the DSM area. Thanks !

Re: New Dishwasher

  • If it's smelling and leaking it could just be seriously clogged with food particles?

  • You're probably right. That's what DH said too. I guess I overreacted ! haha
  • We had this happen with our dishwasher a few months ago.  It was clogged with food particles but also need a new seal.  We went online, ordered the seal for $10 and DH put it in (really simple to do).  Magically, the dishwasher works great now and it was a lot less expensive than buying a whole new dishwasher.

  • We had this same problem this spring - one thing we learned from the Dishwasher Repair guy is to run Dishwasher Magic (@ Target) once a month.  It has helped with the clogged areas.

Are you doing anything special for the clogged food particles issue?  Ours runs much better - but this is still a minor issue.

  • Since our dishwasher and garbage disposal are connected somehow, we found simply running the garbage disposal right before the dishwasher or at the beginning of its cycle for just a few moments really helped suck all of the food particles out of the dishwasher.  We haven't had any more problems but I would maybe look into the Dishwasher Magic stuff if you still have issues.
