Is this weird, or is it just me?

Ok, here's the situation.  I can't tell if I am being overly sensative because this co-worker already annoys me something awful, or if I am justified in thinking this is weird.

A few days ago, some co-workers and I went to a court date for a client of ours (work for a govt agency).  We were all gossiping on the way over because this guy in the court case was a real jerk who wouldn't pay his child support and was trying to get back at his ex.  He is supposedly an international model from back in the day, and we were all wondering if he would still be hot.

Well, we got to court and all decided he wasn't as cute.  And when we were walking together back to the car to go to the office, I remarked that I thought the attorney for the guy was hotter than he was.  One of my co-workers jokingly said, "Hey, you're married lady!"  And I joked back that that means I can look but not touch, haha.

So, the co-worker who annoys me, turns to me and says, "Hmm. Someone must have gotten married too early."  Confused  WHAA????   So I said, "Wait, what?"  And she said "Yeah, you got married too early if you like other guys."

Isn't that weird?  She says lots of other weird things every day, so I think she is missing the all-important thought "filter."  Haha!

Sorry, I just needed to vent more than anything.  She annoys the crap out of me.  And she sits right next to me.  Boo!

  • Now that's just weird.

I don't know a single married woman who doesn't occasionally go "OMG, he's hot!"  It's natural.  We have eyes!  In my case, I usually tell DH to check the guy out (which is weird in and of itself, I know), and he will then tease me mercilessly about it for an hour or so.

Exactly!  I equated it to seeing some random guy on TV and remarking that he was hot.  It's not like I plan to jump into the TV and bone him.  Sheesh.

Crying  OMG, this is the funniest sentence ever ... I seriously just snort/giggled so loud I woke the dog up.

  • So if it was a female model with a female attorney and you commented the same thing would that mean you are gay?

  • Oh!  Good point, A!  I wish I was quick enough in the moment to respond with that.

  • Interesting logic, and lack of filter. Don't you wish sometimes you could "hide" people in real life the same way you do on FB?
  • Umm does she live under a rock ? I don't think I've meta married woman who hasn't used this little saying and joked like that. She took this way to far. Shrug it off as her needing to lighten up a bit.

    YES!

  • Nope, she's the weirdo. I don't know any married man or woman who do not notice other attractive people. It's part of life! Has she been married before?
  • It's one of those things that wouldn't be weird if a friend said it joking around but as someone who is a colleague/doesn't know you well it is. She is a) really young b) really old fashioned/conservative c) thinks she's being funny or d) all of the above

Oh no, it's definitely that she's being serious and doesn't see a problem with it.  She also asked our boss today about her family.  When our boss told her one of her brothers died recently, she proceeded to ask why and when she found out it was cancer she asked her what type and how long it took him to die.

THEN, when she asked one of our older co-workers how many kids she had, the co-worker told her "none."  She proceeded to ask why and when the co-worker told her she COULDN'T HAVE KIDS, the weird co-worker told her SHE SHOULD ADOPT some kids.  The co-worker without children told her she doesn't want kids, the weird one said, "Oh, that's sad."  OMFG.

Yeah, that is definitely strange. She not only doesn't seem to have a filter she also doesn't seem to have the ability to empathize. That's always kind of scary. I'm sorry you have to work with someone like that. It can make things difficult.
  • I don't think weird is the word I would use. Weird is too mellow. She is going to be in for a world of hurt when she is 'old enough to marry' and finds out that other men are still attractive and also when her husband turns out to be 'too young to marry' as he looks at other women. Sad for her.
