  • Today: Cleaning and unpacking from our mini-vacation. DH's best friend is coming to town tonight - he's been in China for 6 months, so I'm sure the boys will want to go out.

Tomorrow and Sunday: Just relaxing before the school year starts for me again and DH heads back to work.

Tomorrow: home tours, hike, Utah Symphony plays Queen

Sunday: fly home EARLY and pick up our puppy. Yay!

  • Prepping for an interview! It's a long term sub position, but the vice principal mentioned there's a strong possibility of it lasting all year. It's not for my preferred grade, but it is in my favorite subject! I had lined up a maternity leave position in 2nd grade but that fell through, so I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic.

Other than that, just straightening up the house a little and relaxing the rest of the weekend. I was sick on Tuesday/Wednesday and H started feeling crummy yesterday so we want to sleep and just hang out around the house.

Good luck!  What grade and subject is it for?  I have taught everything K-6 and loved each one for different reasons.

  • First off... a little "Thankful Friday" message!!  I am thankful today that my house is still standing and that my DH is still alive.  We are in the middle of random repairs thanks to the tornado at the end of June (not a bad one, but bad enough to cause $20k damage to our house/garage/yard).   Yesterday was fence day. So our house is still standing despite a gas line being hit two feet from the house when a fence guy was digging a more than safe distance from where the utilities guy marked you shouldn't dig (so the utilities guy mismarked/failed to mark all the lines!)  Everything turned out ok... but was really frightening for about an hour.

And work has been crazy busy the past few weeks...  hopefully it will calm down a little once classes start.

And this weekend marks the beginning of my "use groupons before they expire" marathon (Groupons marked with a G).

    Tonight- pottery class (G) & a movie

Saturday- Farmer's Market in the morning with my friend and her daughter, gelato making class (G) in the afternoon, prob. working in the yard a bit and cleaning house after the class

Sunday- church, breakfast out with DH (G) and shopping for decorative glass since the glass blowing class is super expensive (G).   and work... need to get the course notes out for my fall class and it will be easier to go into work for a few hours than lugging everything home.

  • Today: Visiting with one of my "little sisters!" She used to live 8 hours+ away and is now living just under an hour away from me!  She is leaving soon and will be here by about 12:30, so I'm nesting/doing chores until she gets here.

This weekend: No clue.  DH didn't come to bed until after midnight last night.  I waited up for him, but I have no clue what he's going to need to do this weekend.  I have 11 more kids left to judge for ACDA selections and that needs to be done by Monday, but that shouldn't take more than an hour to do.

     8th Grade Math.

I did my clinical in Kindergarten and my full semester student teaching in 1st grade. I teach 2nd Grade RE on Saturdays at Church, and two years ago I taught 7th grade math and science. I just prefer the younger grades to the middle school kids. Less attitude and more fun activities. Though I like how middle school goes more in depth with the material.

I'm moving up to the middle school this year.  Teaching 6th and 7th grade reading support and 7th grade reading.  I am excited for the curriculum but nervous about the middle school environment since I have never worked in one before.  I haven't been in middle school since I was a student!

I was soooo nervous that first week in Aug 2009- I signed the contract Monday morning, wasted time Monday afternoon at the district luncheon, actually got the books/into the class on Tuesday and school started on Wednesday! 6th graders at the school I was at were angels, 7th graders started with the attitude, and the 8th graders were rough. My friend who spent the fall student teaching in a 6th grade room at the school subbed that spring and the 8th graders had her in tears- called her fat, told her she should live at Old Country Buffet, and names like bi+ch and wh0re. Hence, I'm a little scared about this interview- I'm hoping these 8th graders aren't so bad.

Though, to be honest, I did have to write up a 7th grader on the first day of school- After we got done going over procedures he shouted out he had to go take a dump. Then he clarified for me that that meant taking a shi+ after I stated that we had just gone over procedures for bathroom use/asking for the bathroom. Luckily, we eventually got him into the ED/BD room where he excelled with the smaller class size.

  • Today:  Prepping for garage sale tomorrow.  Chilling around the house.

Tomorrow:  Helping my parents with their garage sale (and selling a lot of our stuff there too!).  Then dinner with my family and some extended family.

Sunday:  Maybe more garage sale if we don't sell a lot on Saturday, but more than likely just church and prepping for my second interview on Monday.

  • Today: Just got home from a long day at work (too much drama going on plus I'm still not feeling the greatest) gonna figure something out for dinner and go to my aunt's tupperware party.

Saturday: DH will get in at around 5am. YAY! It's been almost 2 weeks since he's been home. I think we're going to check out the county fair and have a quiet day to ourselves.

Sunday: I work Noon-10pm and DH leaves to go back to his apartment and work :(
