Smoke smell on couch

My best friend just moved in with her boyfriend, and he owns his own home with new furniture. She needed to get rid of her living room furniture, and we needed a new couch desperately. We didn't want to spend the money on a brand new set until we buy a house next summer, so we got a pretty nice chair and couch for free!! YAY!

Here's the thing: Said friend is an ex-smoker. She did smoke inside (i.e around the furniture) but hasn't for at least 6-ish months. The couch is leather (might be fake leather - I'm not entirely sure) and it has that stale smoke smell. It's not bad. I catch a whiff every once in a while while sitting on the couch - I usually only REALLY smell it when laying on the couch.

What can I use on it? Since it's not fabric, Fabreeze is out. Other cheap, easy suggestions?

Re: Smoke smell on couch

  • Set it outside in the sun for a full day, or a few days.  Be sure to bring it in at night because of animals and dew.
