Booster seat recommendations

So Zannadanna posted on FB about a booster seat and it has dawned on me that M is close to ready for the transition.

Based on my research I am leaning toward the Britax SGL.

Has anyone found any seat that has higher ratings?  I think the Graco seats have higher ratings on consumer reports for overall value but i like the features of the Britax and am willing to pay more for them.

I just don't want to be Britax-blinded to better options if they exist.

Thanks!

Re: Booster seat recommendations

  • I think I need to do this with Reagan. She's getting too tall for her and it's getting hard to get the straps on. :-(

  • Well I have found some that have a harness-to-booster option and I might get one of those if I knew I was going to have another child.  But they are only good through 59" tall so I'd rather just move up to a good quality booster seat.

I did comparisons between all the Britax models.  They have the Frontier which gives the harness protection but has more limited height restrictions - that would be fine since you have a second baby that would use it, ya know?

Then they have the Parkway SG and SGL.  I like the SGL because it uses the latch system which stabilizes the seat in the event of a crash and I don't have to keep it buckled in to keep it from becoming a projectile in the car if I'm in a crash alone.

I like it better than the Graco turbobooster because it has a latch between the legs that you slip over the lap belt to keep it in the lap position, not over the belly.  So you get 4 points of secure coverage at both shoulders and both hips.  And it comes in hot pink, which M will love (the SG comes in cowprint which I would like in my current red car, but oh well).

I haven't done a TON of research because, well, I have work to do.  But I thought other nesties might have, especially CalmeKel who has Kendall who is about 9 months ahead of Maddie.

I am in decisive mode today so I ordered the Britax Parkway SGL in Livia (hot pink) for my car.  It'll be here Tuesday.  I'll try it for a few weeks before deciding what to use in DH's truck.  So if nesties have any feedback on a better model we can get that for our second vehicle.

Well, let me know what you think. At this rate Abby will be in her car seat until she's 10. Reagan is tall so I need to look more at that.
