So a little back story first... I am an 8th grade home economics teacher. I struggle with the kids every year to get them through the sewing unit and now that I am tenured I think that mixing up our boring old fashioned projects with more fun and age appropriate ones would get more students into sewing.
I think they would have so much fun making those buttons I posted the other day. If I only had girls it would be so easy but I can't think of something "cool" for the boys to make using the buttons. For the girls I was going to show them how to make Hair bows (very in with them right now because of Snooki) or a little makeup case. I thought about making the makeup case into a pencil case for the boys but it just doesn't have that "cool factor" that I am looking for.
If you made it this far into my ranting thank you... Here is the question:
Is there a fun tween/teen sewing project that you have come across for those pesky boys, using buttons?
TIA

Married Bio
similar to a pencil case but a gift card holder/wallet. similar item different name.
I second the straps for guitars, cameras, ukeleles!!!
a button belt
You can always suggest that they work on these items as gifts for someone that they care about.... and it allows them to save face if they want to make it for themselves and aren't confident enough to be public about that!
