So, I decided to make a cheesecake today. White chocolate raspberry with homemade graham cracker crust.
It started off well. I finally found the chopping blade for my food processor that I've been missing for three weeks. Apparently I hid it from myself so D wouldn't get ahold of it and cut himself.
So, I baked the graham crackers and ground them for the base. Then I started making the filling. Oh boy. Everything goes according to plan until I accidentally drop the mixer. My hand mixer fell into the cheesecake filling (still running), flipped itself over so the blades were pointed toward the ceiling and sprayed filling everywhere. All over me, the counter, walls, microwave and baby.
I pulled it out of the mix, and it starts smoking. Fuuuuuuck! I smell burning wires and cooking eggs, ripped the plug out of the wall and set it on the counter. My batter looks like a lumpy mess, since the white chocolate started to harden and the eggs haven't been incorporated properly. I whipped my stick blender out of the cupboard and finish the cheesecake batter. Still not quite happy with how it turned out, but whatever. Poured the batter over the crust with a layer of raspberries on the bottom, then start making a raspberry coulis to swirl through the batter.
Instead of paying attention to what I was doing, I was playing with D while he ate his dinner, still covered in cheesecake batter. Smelling burning raspberries, I turn around and swear at the stove. I ran the sauce through a seive to remove all of the seeds/burnt parts and taste it. It's salvageable, so I swirl it through the batter, and put the whole thing in the oven.
Right now it's cooling, and I'm too afraid to look in the oven to see the monster that I've created. So much for my awesome birthday cheesecake.

This is how it turned out after being chilled overnight.
Re: Edited: Cheesecake mishap with PIP
Hope you manage to pull the courage to try it! Maybe it will taste delicious.

No, no, no! I am so sorry this happened to your birthday cheesecake. Sounds delicious, though.
I'm still stuck at the part where you make your own graham crackers. Really?? You must be a baking goddess. I just crush up whatever slightly sweet cookie or cracker I've got in the pantry and add butter.
If that's how you go about things, I have a feeling the cheesecake will turn out well. You sound like a pro (and even pros have kitchen disasters from time to time!).
Cheesecake turned out okay. It's not sweet enough, but it's still really good. I cooked it a bit too long (fan ovens are tricky), but it's edible!
Ebartzen, I make graham crackers for D. I use vanilla soy milk instead of regular milk, and soy margarine instead of butter. They're great, since I have to be vigilant about dairy products in his snacks. He's either lactose intolerant like me, or has a milk protein allergy. I'm still waiting on the allergist to get his shiit together and test him.
