Hi everyone -
I just wanted to introduce myself to all of you and say hello! My name is Emily & I just graduated with my master's degree in May. My husband and I were married in June and are now living in North Providence. We really love the area, but I'm working in Worcester, MA so I have a pretty long commute and will most likely move closer to Worcester eventually. For now, though, we're just looking to make some friends in the area since a lot of our friends have (sadly) moved away! We have a cat and a dog, who are our children (at the moment!), but we definitely want to start a family in a few years.
I guess that's all for now, but I hope to meet some of you soon!

Re: Newlyweds
Hi Emily! Congratulations on your recent wedding, and welcome to the board!
I grew up in Central Falls, and DH grew up in Cumberland. I'm a SAHM to 2 kids, Shannon (3yo) and Kyle (1yo). We live just a little south of Worcester off 146, so you likely drive right by my house everyday!
Alicia
hi emily! welcome!
me and my hubby live in NP too...just finished my master's degree too...which actually just ended my commute to worcester everyday!!! Haha
we have a lot in common!
It took 5 failed IUIs and a failed IVF, but our FET worked!
My pregnancy after Infertility Blog
Our baby girl was born on April 27, 2011!
Do you have any favorite places/recommendations in NP or Worcester? We're relatively new to both areas and are always looking for new places to explore!
Thanks Alicia! I bet I do drive right by your house - I take 146N straight into Worcester each day.
What cute ages - you must have a lot of fun in your house
We think that we're probably going to move to Worcester eventually, so we'd like to know the city a little bit before that. Any thoughts?!
When we were looking for houses, we were looking in the towns around 395 / 495 / 90 / 290, with good school systems (despite not having any kids at the time).
As far as restaurants go, I'll get more recs from my DH (he attended college in Worcester and stayed in this area afterward, and knows even more places than I do!)

Worcester has become quite a hotbed for good restaurants.Probably depends on price range, but I'm guessing your list included 111 chophouse. Via Panera is an italian upscale place by the same parent company. Sole Proprietor for seafood, again same people.
Thai Cha Da on Route 12 was good. I think I took you there. maps.google.com is a little borked right now, but the place is in between blue Jean's pizza (terrible) and Haiku (I think we went there and it wasn't bad - too pricey for us at the time). If she doesn't mind traveling a bit, that Racha Thai place on Route 20 near Papa Gino's (going towards Auburn from 146) I think is the best around for Thai, though.
Shrewsbury St. is a hotbed for restaurants. Lots of competition there so the food is generally good, or the place wouldn't last. I've been to Flying Rhino I think. Good grille food there and good beer. We went to Coral Seafood once.
There's Korean and Vietnamese, too, depending on how adventurous she is.
I dont love many of the restaurants in north providence. We get takeout from Jackies Galaxy all the time. I can't get enough of their nime chow.
We go onto restaurant.com and use a coupon code (usualliy 70-80% off) and frequent restaurants that way. We love Julian's. Other restaurants on that site that I buy gc for are Cuban revolution, aspire, pizzico, tokyo, down city....
For mexican I like Tortilla flats (less expensive) Don Jose Teq (more expensive) and there is this new place Lolas that I want to try ($2 margaritas this month!).
For Italian food check out federal hill restaurants. Often times during the week they have tons of deals like 2 entrees and a bottle of wine type of a deal.
i love food can you tell? eating out is my favorite thing to do haha. i could talk food for hours...
