We're moving!!! Yay!!
Okay, now that is over with... we moved a year ago and it was a disaster. There were some personal things that went along with it, but it was just plain terrible. I was so crazy and overwhelmed that if it weren't for my family, I think half of our stuff would have just been thrown to the curb.
Any tips, tutorials, etc? We have about a month to get our rental spotless and a five bedroom home to fit into a three bedroom home.

Re: Moving
We are in the process of packing up our townhome to move to our new house. My only piece of advice is to donate/throw away anything you don't need. Do not bring anything into the new house that you don't need/want. Don't hold on to something because you *might* need it someday. If you aren't currently using it, get rid of it.
DH and I have already filled an entire dumpster worth of garbage and have made two trips to goodwill with a car full of items to donate. It's obscene how much crap two people can accumulate in four years of living together. There was no way I was going to pack up and bring anything that I don't have to.
Plus this isn't that much more work if you're already packing since you're already sorting through everything anyway. I used white garbage bags for items to donate, black garbage bags for trash, and then boxes for items to pack. That way I never got confused which pile was which.
We just recently moved and I've been doing some blogging about it along the way. My blog link is in my siggy if you're interested.
I highly recommend making sure you're extremely organized. That is one of the most frustrating things while moving. Either label the outside of every box with what is inside of it or do a numbering system and having a notebook listing what is inside every box (that is what we did).
Good luck with your move!
I second taking things to Goodwill. Often times if you have larger items the Salvation Army or Goodwill will come to your house and take them for you (this could save you time and hassle!).
Also, label what is in every box. I taped notecards on the outside and it was SO helpful when we were moving into our new apartment. I have moved several times since college and this is definitely my favorite thing to do, I have not lost a single thing!
Finally, if you can afford it hire professional movers. We made the mistake of relying solely on friends---which we regretted. Moving things like a washer and dryer and a couch up a rickety staircase was definitely not a good idea...IMO it is worth it to have professionals on hand!
I 3rd the donate or get rid of whatever you aren't using. Yard sale, good will, what have you. We have a ton of baby stuff but I don't know that we'll have another girl or that she'll be born in the summer like DD was. Why bother moving all that stuff around with us. Well except the universal stuff. That we'll hang onto.
Depending on how long you have to pack start with the stuff you don't need out right now. Pack pictures, nick nacks, fine china, out of season clothes. I started with the wall stuff so I could patch up any holes we had.
We are moving next month directly across the street but I'm still packing stuff in boxes. I started with the walls & am doing a room at a time.
