I screamed in my sleep?

So, I had this awful dream last night.  I know that some of you are having kids soon, so here's a disclaimer: it has something to do with that not going very well, so maybe you don't want to read on.

I've never had, as DH called it, a night terror to my knowledge. He was so scared my be screaming; he said it sounded like I was terrified and being hurt.  I remember screaming, but I thought it was just in my dream.  But my dog hopped up onto my bed next to me after and it seriously freaked DH out.

I was dreaming about having a kid.  We were at the doctor's office and the doctor was really creepy, but my doctor was out of town so we had to use this guy.  Well, I started to.. you know... have the kid and that's when I started screaming.  I woke up after that, totally terrified and couldn't get back to sleep.  DH was very concerned; he thought maybe somebody was in our room or something and that's why I screamed.  I reassured him it was just a bad dream.

Why would I be screaming in my sleep, especially about this sort of dream?  Has anybody done this before?

Re: I screamed in my sleep?

  • I've deffinately screamed out loud while I was sleeping. I also sometimes walk and talk in my sleep, it freaks DH out.

One I was sleeping and DH woke up to me staring at him (I was sleeping with my eyes open) and I was repeating, in what DH said was a really creepy voice, get him, get him, over and over. He was finally able to wake me up and he was sitting up in bed totally freaked out. I have no recollection of what I was dreaming about.

And about a month ago, DH was up in the middle of the night because he works over nights. He heard me scream and came running to see what was wrong. At the same time I screamed I woke up to go to the bathroom. We meet in the hallway. Made him jump cause he thought I was in bed and I don't remember having a scary dream.

  • That is nuts!  I went on a spa weekend with my Mom a few years ago and she fell asleep while I was watching TV one night.  She started snoring so loud I couldn't hear so I tried to get her to role over the other way.  She wouldn't respond to me talking to her so I got up and touched her to wake her up.  She sat up and screamed bloody murder for about 30 seconds.  I was so freaked out I ran across the room and kept saying "It's me Mom, It's me".  She finally woke up and stopped and just looked at me. She had no idea she had been screaming!

  • Well, it's reassuring to know that other people have experienced this.  It really freaked me out, and it scared DH pretty badly, too.  He now has an "affectionate" new nickname for me: The Night Terror.  Haha
