Where do you get your Christmas ornaments from?
I'm going to stop fighting H for a Pottery Barn/Martha Stewart type tree. His childhood ornaments mean more to him than a pretty tree means to me. He doesn't have enough ornaments to cover a whole tree and I don't have any sentimental ornaments (I was raised with a PB/MS tree) to help fill in the gaps.
I'm not really a fan of the Hallmark keepsake ornaments, so I'm slightly at a loss on what kind of ornaments to get to fill in the gaps.
Help?
PS, Yes, I am already thinking about Christmas.

I married the grinch, therefore I have full say in all thinks Christmas.
I love the PB ornaments, but I hate spending $$ on them. My current ornaments are all different size glass balls you get from Michaels/JoAnns and I painted them random colors my self.
In full disclosure - I have a Mardi Gras themed tree, so standard ornaments don't really fit with it.

Why, in fact, he does. Done! I'm taking your H memories and passing them off as my H's memories.
Lets not mention this to our H's.
this is probably what i should be doing.... and not trying to steal other people's memories....
I feel like a Disney song should start playing about making your own memories... *la di di dum...*

AHAHAHA. I love this thread so much.
I did pick up a really cute not so disney looking disney tree skirt last year. I'm totally busting that out this Christmas!
If H can have his childhood ornaments then I can have a Mickey tree skirt. Take that, H!
where'd you get it? i might need a new topper

We also have an ornament from each Christmas since our wedding; something we choose during the year during travelling, etc. (we have a gilded leaf from our trip to the Grand Canyon, a woven grass angel from Hawaii, etc.) to add to the collection.
Best sound ever: baby's heartbeat! (Heard @ 10w1d)
I bought mine a gazillion years ago at a Disney Store. This is the one I have -
Google shows you can get them at various stores and there is now one of her wearing red.
Also am enjoying this thread. I have a small tree skirt that has Rudolph on it from the claymation cartoon.
DH and I get our ornaments from pretty much anywhere. Hallmark, Target, Macys, places like that. And we have some from when we were kids.

I have an idea that might make both of you happy!
DH & his brother went to a glass blowing day and they got to blow as many ornaments in as many (or few) colors/styles as they wanted during the two hour class. I think they each ended up with 12-15 ornaments (and had one dedicated instructor between the two of them). He is so proud his ornaments are on our tree and it still has that PB/MS look! We have picked up quite a few more from their studio, but he enjoyed his time so much he'll probably go back and blow more in the future. This is something the two of you could do together if you'd like, so you could end up with a lot of ornaments in a pretty short amount of time. Plus they would have sentimental value, as you made them together!
Only thing to keep in mind as they are pretty heavy and rather large. We like a really open Noble Fir, about 11' tall, so it works great for us (as the branches are really sturdy with lots of space between them).
I think you're thinking of Wight's, and yes, I agree, this store is of the awesome.

We use to live really close to Wights, and still go up there from Federal Way to each choose an ornament each Christmas.
Macy's has a good selection of ornaments around Christmas that we like to each choose one from each Christmas as well.
There is also a nursery down in Puyallup if you are ever that way that has a lot of great ornaments around Christmas time. It's Watson's Greenhouse and Nursery. Here is a picture from their website of their wall of ornaments. They also have trees decorated and lots of Christmas decor.
TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
I always love Molbak's at christmas...they do the whole little tree corners with each one a theme (sports, outdoor sports, coffee, tea, etc).
Our tree is a mix that I'm slowly converting over...we have some sentimental ones of mine from my childhood (mostly plastic or homemade from fabric), and then I've been working on a collection of the hand-made glass German-style ornaments. I'm trying to convert our tree to all glass or silver with a few of the sentimental ones interspersed to keep it interesting. I keep the cheap crappy ones from some set my mom gave me years ago on the bottom branches to the cat can have fun pulling them off and I won't care. MIL, from the first year H and I started dating, buys me the Swarovski annual snowflake ornament. I
that!! I have one for every year we've been together. Also, every year H and I each get to find and buy one new glass ornament...and I always buy one appropriate for the cat (a mouse, or a bird, or something similar that he would like. Yes, I'm a dork!)
UW - my aunt always had 2 Christmas trees. They had one in the formal living room that was all pretty and sophisticated, and one in the media/family room that had all the sentimental stuff on it.
