cricut question...

I know that a lot of people are against cricut or don't like it, but this is what I have and can't buy another machine right now...Anyway, does anyone have the design studio? Is it worth it? Thanks!

Re: cricut question...

  • I have it but I've only used it once. I think the gypsy is probably a better investment... I'm still trying to figure it out though.
  • I have a gypsy and I really like it.

I would hold off on design studio though because they should be releasing Cricut Craft Room anytime now.  If you will have access to high speed internet all the time that may be the way to go and it's free.

  • I have a Gypsy too and really like it. When I bought it, I got 5 or 6 free preloaded carts on it too.

I got the Design Studio from my aunt and haven't even opened it.

  • I have Design Studio and I love it.  It's basically the same as the Gypsy except that you have to have the physical cartridges with you and you need your computer/laptop with you.  But, the Gypsy has the tiny little screen which I couldn't stand.

I can see what's available on all the cartridges out there, and if I see something I like, I can borrow the cartridge from someone (I usually only scrapbook at a crop or retreat).  I like the way the cutting surface shows up so large on my laptop so it's very easy to see what I'm doing.  I like being able to look at the size of the letters/images before cutting them.  I love being able to weld images and make all kinds of neat titles or unique images.  I got the Design Studio for around $35, and I LOVE it!

BTW, the Design Studio, just like the Gypsy or Cricut has a learning curve to it.  Read the manual, ask for help, and use the Design Studio forums on Cricut.com and you'll learn to use it in no time.
