Hi Ladies,
My best friend is getting married and all the women close to the couple are cross-stitching tea-towels for them. I am in love with the idea and we are all doing a picture that represents something about them. The thing it, I've only ever done counted cross stitch and I'm really struggling to follow the picture stenciled on the towel. I've never done free-style cross stitch. I took a frog picture since she loves frogs and I'm seriously struggling- how do you keep consistent stitch size? Anyone have any tips for not making this frog picture look like it came from a nuclear waste plant? I should have gone with the Michigan "M" lol. His grandma beat me to it:) Thanks!
Re: Lurker, need help with crossstitch
Does the towel have the "grid" for cross stitching on it? Or are you using Waste Canvas? I'd think that using waste canvas would be similar enough to doing counted cross stitch you'd have a lot of success.
Or, I'm guessing you're using flour sack type tea towels since you said something about "free-style cross stitch." My mother-in-law gave us a set for our wedding that included a towel for each month. I do a lot of embroidery...but I don't have a whole lot of advice. I did a quick search and fount this site which might help you:
