Need opinions from moms (and others) on buying their kids toys
Our nephew's 4th birthday is coming up and I'm trying to pick out a toy for him. We also got him a very cool little shirt in Kauai that changes color in the sun. He's apparently really into Transformers, but it seems like it would be very easy to get toy duplicates. I'm tempted to ask my SIL/his mom if a certain toy or toy set is something he doesn't have already (and would like). I've never asked SIL for help in getting gifts for him but I'm wondering if I should be.
What do you think? Do you appreciate when people ask for advice or confirmation on gifts for your kids? Would you rather them just figure out themselves and deal with a potential duplicate?
Bonus: Any other toy recs for 4 year old boys?
Thanks

We don't have kids yet but,
My H recommends Legos- he says they are the Sh*t.
maybe a remote controlled truck or car.
hope that helps.
I really appreciate when people ask when H wants/needs. It helps a lot with returns, duplicates and wrong sizes.
A gift card is always welcome too...at four he probably loves going to TRU and picking out something with "his" money.

this.
And I second legos. :-)
I have a 4 year old boy! I love it when people ask for advice about gifts for him.
My son is also really into transformers. He isn't able to manipulate some of the more difficult transformers (I have trouble myself lol) though so make sure you check the difficulty on the box as it will indicate it. His favorite transformer is Bumblebee. My son also loves costumes. At Target they have different masks of superheros and their accessories. Books are also great gifts. My son loves those I Spy books.
