<sigh> We got back Tuesday night and I'm easing myself back into the real world again.
This was the view from our lanai:

We had a little trouble getting out there -- our first flight was cancelled and we ended up stuck in San Francisco for a night and missed a half day in Maui.
But after that snafu, everything else was good.
We played in the water at the beach outside our condo, sailed, snorkeled, explored the west coast (including the Nakalele blowhole and driving the one lane road along the cliffs), went to the Iao Valley, drove up Haleakala, toured the aquarium, sugar museum, Bailey House museum, winery, and botanical gardens. We ate lots of yummy food and I even liked my first elk burger (that that DH accidentally told me was beef). We also saw the scenic Maui Walmart, Safeway, and Long's Drugs. ![]()
Basically, we did everything except drive the road to Hana. We also didn't see Haleakala at sunrise (we went during the daytime).
It was a wonderful time. Maui is much better than Oahu.
Re: back from Maui
glad you had a great time!
Glad things went mostly well!
I agree, Maui all the way! It's truly paradise.

Ha! We got to our hotel around 7pm pacific time, walked across the street to McDonald's for dinner, came back to our hotel and collapsed into bed so we could get up to leave by 6:30 the next morning.
Someday I hope to see more of San Francisco than the airport. The only positive of that diversion was that I got some good fresh sourdough bread and See's Candies at the airport.
Welcome back!
And I agree, Maui = the best! I would give anything to go back there.
