I was reading the website and saw this:
Each participating family or member may receive two sessions per year. The session choices are Pre-Deployment (with the service member), Saying Goodbye (documentary style at the farewell location), Already Deployed (service member has already deployed), and Homecoming (documentary style at the homecoming location.) Post-Homecoming sessions are not allowed. ALL sessions shall follow a patriotic theme. Pre-Deployment sessions shall include a uniformed service member with the option to change clothes later in the session.
I was not aware that it was two sessions. Has anyone done both?
Re: OpLove
That blows.
I've heard a lot of people say that though. Did you contact the organization to let them know you were being ignored. I get that it's a free charity thing, but a simple e-mail saying they aren't available isn't too much to ask IMO.
I plan to contact a local nestie who occasionally posted on MN so I have confidence that I'll hear back.
Half the time I would get emails back saying they would need a definite date, which from a business perspective I understand, but as you know... we don't know a definite date until just days before he's home.
The other half I just wouldn't get anything back.
I wish I knew someone locally, that would be awesome! Good luck!!
This was exactly my issue, so we never got to use them.
I did an OpLove photo session, and it was GREAT! Our photographer was wonderful, and took lots of photos.. including some photos with my husband in civilian clothes (these photos were not free of course, we had to buy them seperately). I was very happy with this program, and we ended up ordering over $100 worth of photos on top of the free 4"x6" photos that are provided (in fact our photographer gave us 5"x7" photos instead at no extra charge). We were supposed to have the homecoming photos as well, but she had a family emergency come up and wasn't able to make it.
I contacted her by email originally, and everything went really well. I hope you have better luck with it.
