Cheap thread?

It's the one thing elluding me. I can get cheap fabric and cheap zippers, but I'm tired of paying for thread. I usually stock up when it goes half off at JoAnn, but I fly through spools pretty quickly.
Any tips on where I can find good quality thread at a decent price?

And I'm going to hijack my own thread to ask about embroidery threads too. I prefer Madeira but haaaate the price.
The sale ends TODAY! I picked up 6-7 spools a couple weeks ago and I'm thinking about making another order!
