Inside information.  If the organization needs volunteer help (not only $$$) they have a very decent chance of getting it if they fall within the parameters outlines in the app.

More inside info- if they can't meet today's deadline but can get the app delivered by Wednesday, it will be considered ;-)

Re: Know a Non-Profit that needs...

  • I just sent it to my girlfriend at PACN. ;)
  • Let me know if she fills out an app.  I'm responsible for getting them all organized and to the people who should have them so I'll look for it.
  • Oh my gosh, I was just talking about this with my mom and a family friend the other day.  We had a business meeting to discuss the future of an educational scholarship fund that my dad set up like 15 years ago (the Jesus Terrones Education Fund).  It helps low-income Hispanic high school students with scholarships to go to college.  Currently we just help fund students from The Chinquapin School, but my mom, Jesus, and I were talking about how to expand our funding options to reach more students...and I suggested the JL as an option.

However, there's no way we can get all the info together, plus we're not an official non-profit...just a fund.  I am definitely going to submit for next year, though!!!

A great school to advertise with would be the Cristo Rey Jesuit college prep school.  They provide private Jesuit education for children in low income families.  5/8 students who my employer has sponsored for HS school are Hispanic and will need financial aid to get into college.

JL currently partners with Chinquapin and I believe the school michelle mentioned, if that gives you an angle to work. :)

JL sponsors them, their headmaster spoke at the last meeting I went to.  It is amazing how the school has grown so much and so quickly.

I know - Almond told me after I shared on FB how fun their gala was and how it was so moving to see my organization being one of the founding sponsors of the school and how it is growing so fast!  (My comment was directed to Liz for their scholarship, not to Almond for her JL inquiry... I didn't clarify because Almond already knew I knew JL already supports CRJ). :-)
