So, this is really embarassing to ask, and probably as embarassing to answer. Or maybe it's just me. Has anybody ever gotten a Brazilian? I won't ask if it hurt because duh. But how long is the recup time and is it worth it?

For two people in a marriage to live together day after day is unquestionably the one miracle the Vatican has overlooked.

Re: Waxing (Poetic)
I haven't gotten one.
My one friend is a firm believer and actually gives them to herself now. Yikes!
My other friend said the insane itching when it grows back in is not worth it, period.
Good luck!
I do know if you get one take ibuprofren a half hour before!
I used to get waxes, though never brazillian. not sure why, but it never seemed to last as long as i wanted, so to me it was never worth the pain. also, at this point, i would not want to wait however many weeks without shaving in order to have a good waxing. sorry, but i dont want to walk around home/beach/etc without a well maintained ____, even for a few weeks.
however, i do really want laser hair removal on my bikini line. in a hard core way.

I get a Brazilian once a month, and at this point it doesn't hurt very much at all. But the pain is the same as pulling off a band aid...multiple times. By the time I walk out, I feel fine overall. I agree that it makes sense to take an Ibuprofen before going in and try not to schedule it near Aunt Flo, since that makes it more painful.
Whatever you do, go to a reputable salon to get it done. A lot of places use strips, which tear out your hair and a good amount of skin (which can hurt like a beootch). A good salon uses a wax only system that only grabs your hair.
HTH!
I've never done the Brazilian, but off and on get waxes regularly. I agree with Kaz, make sure to go to a place that uses the wax you just pull off directly, not the strips. I found it hurts a lot less, and seems to last longer.
And this reminds me that I need to schedule a wax! I can no longer really see past my belly to shave instead.
