If some one you knew or worked with smelled bad all the time, would you tell them?

h-yes. family member, i've told my mom her breath stinks, and i've told my brother he stinks (he used to be a smoker)....but other than that, no.
What if the smell was so bad that if you're in the car together you have to keep the window down...??
no. i would just avoid riding in the car with them.
obviously, i'm too chicken to tell someone they stink.
ETA: nvm. i *do* regularly tell smokers that they stink. but only if we are "friendly" to some extent (coworkers included).

this is a good answer. If it was H or one of my close family members I would tell them, but anyone else, it's awkward. It was be really hard to not say something though if it was a close friend in the car situation. Ugh. I don't understand how people don't realize these things.

This is what HR or your manager is here for.
A manager that I work with pretty regularly was telling me that he, recently, had to go through this with an employee. The manager pulled the dude aside and the dude had no clue. His response, "Oh hum... I wonder why my wife never mentioned anything." The dude never came to work stinky again.
this. but honestly, what if they don't know???
oh I know, my mom has had a stinky co-worker - I wasn't saying it's not possible. I was just saying I don't get how people can not think about or notice it.

I would also tell the HR manager. This has been an issue at my work before.... teenage/early 20's male game testers = disgusting

I would tell H he smelled bad ASAP. And same with family members.

I would never associate with some who smelled that bad, or at least close enough be driving in the same car.

i was agreeing with you wholeheartedly. if i ever stink, i'm the first person who knows it and then i got shower and fix it. that's why i just wonder can it be possible that they don't? there is no way right?? and this isn't just b.o... it's worse. if i stink, and i can smell myself, chances are others can too.

This is what makes me wonder if they don't notice.. and when they walk into a room and the first thing you can smell is them, it's not good.
The thing is is that this person doesn't always smell.. probably 60/40 smell to not. I just don't want to ruin my relationship with them by bringing it up, but I don't want other people to smell it and not like this person because of it...

I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable telling them myself, but I might bring it up to my manager to see if they can have a hygiene discussion with them.

Well... how close is close? LOL I may be able to get the guts up to tell them, but it'd be hard to do, because I hate embarrassing people. Not that I'd tell them in front of anyone else, but I'm sure they'd feel bad about it regardless. But then again, I'd want to be told if I smelled bad, so... Double edged sword, I guess.

Luckily none of my friends are stinky. LOL But if they were? Yes, I'd tell them.

If H smells, he probably knows it already. He's super conscious about his hygiene, and sometimes showers twice a day. Family member? I'd totally tell them. LOL

Okay, that's just gross. I'd probably ask if they got around to showering today, and if not, offer my shower to them. Cause really? Ew.
