Hair Poll

Soo I need a new do, and I don't have the nerve to cut my hair short, but I'm dying to try this (maybe with a small side bang):

My hair has always been long and layered, but lately I'm bored.  It has no style.  Thoughts?  Feelings?

Re: Hair Poll

  • My post wedding chop was about that short and I hated it!  I missed being able to throw my hair up in a ponytail and a million different other easy to do styles.  If it were me, I wouldn't chop that short again.

Could you maybe do something similar to that but a little longer so you can still pull it back when you want to?

  • I have found it to be a horrible idea to look at a celeb photo and say "I want that!" I've done it enough times to realize that they have a professional stylist, and, well, you don't. In my experience, it never looks anywhere close to the same, and I get so frustrated!

Is your hair kind of thick? Mine is, and if I cut it that length w/out layers (been there, done that) it ends up looking very BLAH and kind of childish. I don't know if you would have the same problem, but it's something to thing about.

I understand the boredom with long layers, but there's a reason I always come back to it - because it's what looks good on me with my hair type. I would consider if you might feel the same before you chop. (from pics it looks like we have similar hair textures).

  • If you're a big ponytail girl I would go a little longer than that, with the bangs to change it up. I did the side bangs and I love them, feels like a different 'do because I have to "style" them (takes all of 30 seconds with dryer and round brush). Maybe some layers just to keep it "you" since it looks nice on you now.

  • My opinion is to cut the bangs first, this creates a very different look without limiting your ponytail days!  Kind of like Reese Witherspoon's look right now - she is keeping her hair long, but she has shorter layers around her face and gorgeous bangs!  But I'm biased because I love bangs :)

I am also thinking about cutting my hair shorter again - it has been fairly long since our wedding, but I kind of like it long too :P

  • You girls are giving me all the same reasons why I never cut my hair that short!! HAHA  All very good points, so I think I'll stick with the long and layered look that has worked for me all this time, and add bangs.  I've had side bangs before and loved them (in the cooler weather, when I didn't mind them in my face), so I'll do that again this fall.  Oh and maybe some highlights/lowlights around my face.  Haven't done that in a while.

    Thanks!!!!!

  • My post wedding haircut started small and turned into a pixie cut and I'm SO happy I did it! The way I see it...it's just hair. :)
