BWB/BWLO-dr. appt. question
I have my first appointment with my OB tomorrow morning (we had an ultrasound a while back but I just saw the tech and left).
Any tips? Things I need to ask about? I have no idea what to expect. DH is coming with me so I can remember what the OB says-my memory sucks lately.
Re: BWB/BWLO-dr. appt. question
Watch out for the magic wand...
The ultrasound wand? If so, I met her at my first appt (and I'm sure DH loved watching someone else down there for the first time). I think I'm just seeing/talking to the doctor tomorrow...
Take this appointment as a time to get acquainted with your doc and his/her practice. Make sure they support you and your ideas about birth and prenatal care. Remember this person and his/her colleagues will be supporting you through a very big journey and one of the most amazing days of your life, so it's important that you like them and feel that they support and respect you.
And, I will step off my doula stand now. :-)

Did you have your intake appointment already? If not, they'll go over family history and all that good stuff. Write down your questions ahead of time, honestly I forget! And I hardly had any questions for the doc, I read my week by week book and these ladies have been such a wealth of info over the years that I didn't have much to ask!

Married Bio
At my first official OB appointment, I had a pap smear. We discussed my general health and any medications that I was taking. We also discussed nutrition. They gave me a sheet of which medications were safe and a general do's and don'ts (e.g., no hottub but pool okay). Most of the first appointment for me what what am I supposed to be doing. We also discussed how my appointments would work (frequency).
I think you're already around 12 or 13 weeks, so if you think you want an NT scan (also called a first trimester scan) to look for risks for Down Syndrome and the trisomies, I would mention that now. Some doctors don't automatically recommend it to younger women and it is totally up to you whether you want it (and whether your insurance will cover it).
