Seafood restaurants near Anacostia?

I would prefer a moderately priced restaurant, but we could probably swing something more expensive as long as it's delicious.  Any places you would recommend?

  • I don't know Anacostia at all, but have you thought about going to SW DC?  Cantina Marina is moderately priced and serves fish.  You do pay a little for the location right on the water, but it's a lovely place to enjoy a meal outdoors.  On the same Pier there is Philips and Pier 7.  I've never been to either but both are seafood restaurants.  If you are looking for uber casual - you can get fish (fried, steamed shrimp/crabs, chowder, etc. at one of the walk up places at the Maine Ave. Fish Market and then eat on one of the benches overlooking the marina.  DH and I have done this on nice days.

Thanks, we'll have to check it out.  My H and I moved to Bolling-Anacostia at the beginning of July and we haven't done much exploring.  Maybe we can go check out the Marina this weekend

  • Anacostia is often defined as a food desert.  It's beginning a renaissance and the district is funneling a lot of money into its redevelopment but not everything has fallen into place yet.    Do you know anyone at Bolling yet?  They might be better able to steer you to good local restaurants.

For an evening out, you could also try going to National Harbor.  It's not that far from Bolling.  I just hate that you have to pay for parking so we don't go often.
