Good Morning!

So.tired.again.  Wtf Monday?  Why do you have to come so early?

We had a good weekend.  Very busy and a lot of driving, but I did get to spend a few hours with Tim and Shannon's girls and that was great.  They definitely know who Derek and I are now, even if they have a hard time with my name!

Last night after we got back from camping (and 4 hours in the car) we had some food, packed the car and headed right out again to start installing floor at my step-sister's house.  We didn't get home from that until 11:30, and Derek will be there every night this week probably as long.  Fun?

How was everyone's weekend?

Re: Good Morning!

  • raynes, it's amazing how much you guys can pack into a weekend!  Much more productive than us.  We had a good weekend, though.  The weather was nice, so we head out to read in the park yesterday.  Good dinner with a friend on Saturday, and otherwise taking care of some small bits and bobs around the flat, getting ready for my parents arrival on Wednesday.

Tonight will be busy finishing up some of those things in the apartment.  We thought we had our US taxes done with finally, but now turns out we still need to send in another form, so I'll try to do that tonight.  This is driving me crazy!

  • Morning ladies!

My weekend was uneventful.  Ryan went to the suprise party for a friend of his Friday night, and then worked the rest of the weekend, so it was the boys and I.

Saturday I went to visit a friends mom in the hospital (without the boys), then ran errands the rest of the day, and lots of play time later.

Sunday was spend cleaning the house, laundry and watching some tv.

Nothing new here, work work work.

  • This weekend was spent at a wedding all weekend. I had fun, but there were so many elements that made me cringe. At the end of the day they were married and we all had fun.

I got a call to interview at a new district on Thursday so I'm going to take it as my current district still hasn't provided me with my contract yet. Also this school is closer to my house than the one I have an offer from anyway. So that means I'm using it as an excuse to go shopping for new clothes. Honestly I need new clothes anyway because nothing fits the way it used to. So today I'm going shopping :)

The funny thing is that the weekends end up being incredibly unproductive because we're gone!  I think I've done my normal Sunday grocery shopping once in the last 6 or 8 weeks.  I had to resort to stopping at McDonald's for breakfast this morning because we have no food in the house.  Sometimes I just want a vacation from my weekends!

  • Morning, everyone! This weekend was a blast. Friday night we went out on our anniversary date to this Cuban restaurant we love. Ropa vieja, tres leches cake, a mojito--what's not to love? Saturday we had our anniversary cake (it was good, definitely a nice replica of our wedding cake, but not as tasty). Sunday was kind of low key, but it was nice since it was gloomy all day. Managed to get to the gym and do some chores, so not a bad weekend overall. :)

Tonight we'll be doing laundry--what a way to celebrate the actual day, huh? Anyway, happy anniversary to my fellow August 15ers, and happy day to all. :)

  • Morning ladies!

We had a good weekend. Friday and Saturday we had our childbirth classes and actually learned a lot more than we thought we would. We got our pack n' play, stroller and car seat all put together and more mudding of the nursery done. We also did yard work, cleaning and laundry.

Tonight, we are going out to celebrate our anniversary. It will be so nice to have a date just DH and I!

    Have a great day ladies!

  • We had a good weekend. Friday we went to the rehearsal for wedding #1. That was the wedding for Kyle's friends. We had a good time at the rehearsal dinner and went out with his friends afterwards.

Saturday we went our separate ways and Kyle went to his friends wedding and I went to my cousins wedding. The wedding that Kyle was in was outside. It rained. They had a rain location but had to make the call by 9am if they were going to use the rain location or not. They were predicting a 50% chance of rain for the ceremony time but opted to chance it with the outdoor wedding anyway. I guess it was pretty miserable. Only a handful of the guests showed up and they got started nearly a half an hour late waiting for more guests to arrive, which left the entire wedding party standing out in the rain (the guys were standing in position from the time that the wedding was supposed to start). The reception was indoors and I guess everyone had a lot of fun there.

The wedding that I attended was entirely indoors and we had a blast. Everyone on my dad's side of the family was there. I had a great time hanging out with all of them.

Yesterday we reunited and went to the post-wedding brunch for wedding #1. Then we drove back home. We were both exhausted and didn't accomplish too much once we got home. I did a few loads of laundry, but otherwise we tried to relax so that we'd be ready for work today. Now only a three day workweek before another long weekend.

  • This weekend was jam packed for me.

Friday I got in a good run and ended up meeting my BIL and his GF in the park for an impromtu picnic and socializing. Saturday DH and I went zip lining through the north ga mountains and got back to Atlanta in time to go to a Braves baseball game. We had great seats behind home plate. Yesterday I went shopping with my MIL and SIL it was all around a busy but great weekend.

  • Morning everyone!  I definitely need a weekend break form my weekend.  Friday B and I went up to the burbs to see Crazy Stupid Love with my mom and pick up Casey.  Saturday we cleaned the house almost all day, and then repeated the same on Sunday.  Our bedroom is finally in normal looking shape, and our second bedroom is on its way.  We've started going through all the books we've kept over the years.  We have so many we could start a library, but we just don't have room any more.  I think we'll end up donating about half of them.

  • Good morning, ladies.

I know how you feel, raynes.  Sometimes I look forward to Monday just to get some rest from the weekends.

We rode our bicycles 68 miles on Saturday, then hiked Sunday.  The funny thing was that we put a turkey on the smoker in the backyard before we left for our ride, about 6am.  It cooks at 180* and takes several hours.  We didn't return until 1pm, and our neighbor came over to ask if we were ok because all the fire trucks were there earlier.  I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about.  I asked my daughter, who was sleeping in the basement, and she said she woke up to 6 or 8 firemen in full gear telling her to get the dog and get out of the house.  Scared the crap out of her.  Apparently when DH started up the smoker there was some smoke (I know, big surprise), and one of the neighbors called 911 and said the house was on fire.  Good thing I didn't lock the front door or they might have broken it down.  They figured out quickly that it was the food cooking and the house was ok.  Nice to know our neighbors are watching out for each other, even if it was a false alarm.

    Have a great day, everyone!

  • Les - Oh my! It's nice to have concerned neighbors, and I'm glad there really wasn't an issue since your daughter was asleep inside.

DH and I did all of our errands on Saturday including buying a chest freezer. When we got it home, we realized this meant we had no choice but to organize the garage. The garage was clean until we offered to store a cousins stuff for the summer when she went home on break. Now she's decided she doesn't know when she's coming back and I'm stuck with a garage full of her stuff.

Sunday we got an unexpected call to join some friends on a jazz brunch cruise, it was nice but totally threw off my Sunday plans.

  • Good morning everyone! We got back from Maui and Kauai last night after an 18 hour door-to-door trip. I hadn't really slept at all and ended up getting maybe 2 hours over the course of the trip (we left at 9 pm too). How do people sleep on airplanes?!?

Anyway, I was totally exhausted last night, so I went to bed at 7:00 pm and woke up today at 10:00. I can't even claim to feel that rested!

Both islands were AMAZING. Kauai is just so picturesque and chilled out. To me, it feels like the most livable of the 4 major ones. It's got that small town, friendly vibe too it. But, once we got back to Maui, I was reminded why I love it so much. We went hiking on some back trails through the mountains, drove to the winery, swam at our favourite beach (Kahekili - better than Ka'anapali, IMHO) and I got super, super brown inspite of wearing 70 spf.

I don't think I've ever been this shade before. I applied a bronzer for the airplane yesterday and it was lighter than my skin tone.

Oh, and the wedding I was in was... uhm... a success in spite of itself. The caterer didn't hire any servers and kept thrusting food at us to hand out. He was also 2 hours late in serving dinner. The father of the groom didn't show up to shuttle people back and forth from the reception site to the ceremony site, so my Dad had to step in to help out. We spent 7 hours making raspberry lemonade and iced tea for 100 in ONE pot in the kitchen. It was ridiculous. The bride had a meltdown on the wedding day.... and I contributed to the whole mess by accidentally called the groom the bride's ex's name (holy #!&$) by in a toast. Thankfully it was just with the bridesmaids and everyone thought it was hysterical... but I was totally mortified. There's actually a picture of the exact moment too... picture #7 on the slideshow:

  • Good morning ladies. We had a busy but fun weekend. The birthday party and baby shower were both fun and it was so great to hang out with our family and friends.

I hate Monday's, but I woke up to Olivia's smiling face and it made waking up early worth it. Today is our anniversary and I cannot believe it's been two years already. I'm debating whether to make tacos for dinner or just pick up Chinese from our favorite place. We are going to celebrate on Saturday so I feel guilty spending money when we have tons of food at home. Hope everyone has a great day.

  • Good afternoon!

I worked today, so I am just checking in now.  Our weekend was good...we went to the Yankee game Friday night with my parents.  They lost, but it was amazing weather, so the game was really fun anyway.  We came home Saturday and just were lazy for the rest of the weekend.

No big plans for tonight...making corn chowder for dinner since it is cool and rainy and just hanging out.  I have to work again tomorrow morning and then tomorrow night Ed's parents are coming to visit for a couple of days and Ed will be on vacation for a week and a half.  He hasn't taken a week and a half off at once since college, so he is excited.
