Cake/Cupcake Place in Alexandria/Arlington

I think I saw this recommendation on here a while ago.  I'm looking for a custom cupcake place in Alexandria (or it might have been Arlington).  I want to say it was special order  only.  I don't recall seeing storefront information on the website.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  Even if not, if you've got a recommendation for a small order of custom cupcakes on a short turn around in either Alexandria or Arlington, I'd love to hear it.  Thanks!

  • Bittersweet in Old Town has tasty cake products and could probably do a quick custom order.
  • My favorite bakery is Buzz (on Slaters Lane, but they have one near Ballston, I think). Everything I've had from there has been delicious!
  • Buzz is great!

  • to each her own, i guess, but i hate buzz's cupcakes! i find them dry and too dense for cake.

alexandria cupcake (on king street in old town), on the other hand, makes the most delightfully delicious cupcakes i've ever had! moist, perfectly sweet, not too much icing, interesting flavors. and they do custom orders!

Alexandria Cupcake does have the best strawberry icing. However, I have never had the dry cupcake scenario at Buzz and Buzz has the peanut butter chocolate and bacon cupcake. Yum.

  • I prefer Lavender Moon Cupcakery.  Their cupcakes are MUCH better than Alexandria Cupcake or Bittersweet's IMO.

it is a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting and bacon crumbles on top. My dad was in town and ordered one (i was totally skeptical of the flavor) and it was really good.
